Parenting can be a lonely experience. A recent survey revealed more than 4 in 5 parents report feeling isolated in parenthood, leaving parents lacking support and significantly impacting their ability to cope.
One of the real benefits of the Parent Gym programme is that it connects parents, helping them realise that they are not alone in their daily challenges.
This autumn Parent Gym is running an online Open programme. Unlike our usual school-based programmes, this programme is open for anyone to sign up to – wherever in the country they are based.
Parent Gym is a 6-week programme aimed at connecting parents. The programme builds parenting skills, helping to regain a sense of balance at home. Providing proven strategies for managing everyday challenges with your children, Parent Gym improves communication and helps create a calmer, more co-operative home environment. When family life feels more on-track, parental confidence builds and stress levels reduce.
The 6-week programme is aimed at parents of children aged 2-11. Each interactive session focusses on a different theme and provides practical new tips and techniques for improving family life.
The programme details are as follows:
Parent Gym Open Programme
When: Thursdays, 9.30am-11.00am
Dates: From 6th November to 11th December
Where: Virtual – online

Struggling with managing screen time this summer?
Here's what really matters...
Not all screen time is created equal — it’s how, when, and with whom your kids use screens that counts.
✔ Focus on wellness
– Prioritize your children's sleep and physical activity
– Use screens in shared spaces
– Set limits that protect mental health
✔ Think values over guilt
– What experiences do you want your kids to have this summer? How do you want them to remember the holidays?
– A bit of boredom, creativity, outdoor time, and connection can go a long way.
✔ Make a practical plan
– Decide what sort of screen activities are OK, when, and where
– Ensure kids’ basic needs are met before screen time
– And remember - sometimes it’s okay to use screens to get dinner made...
Parenting in the digital age isn’t about perfection — it’s about balance. ✨

☀️ Too hot to play outside? Grumpy, frustrated, overheated children? When the heat is high and the moods are low, here are some fun indoor ideas to keep your little ones happy and busy:
🌈 Indoor scavenger hunt – Create a list of things to find around the house. Great for movement and focus.
🐇Play a game of 'Would you rather...?' - for example 'Would you rather have a pet who could talk or who could fly?', 'Would you rather live in a giant tree house or under the sea?'. Great for sparking imagination.
🍨 Make your own “ice cream” – Blend frozen bananas with a splash of milk for a healthy, cool treat they can help make. Great for a nutritious snack.
📗Make a nest with pillows and snuggle up with your child to read a book they loved when they were younger - children can find revisiting old favourites comforting. You could try making up a new ending, or swap in the names of your children and their friends so they become the heroes of the story. Great for one-on-one time and building connection.
