Hi guys!!! Hope you and your families are all well and healthy ❤️.

We are bringing back the Virtual QuARTantine Therapy Fridays for this term (17-20pm UK time) to help release all the revision and exam stress and virtually recreate our yearly art therapy term 3 sessions.

Let's chat and make art together despite being apart - doesn't matter what skill level you are at, or whether you have access to loads of materials or not! This might be a great opportunity to start exploring using pens and practicing your sketching skills, working on your digital art, or making crafts with things you find lying around the house. Just grab a cup of tea/coffee/whatever you fancy and get creative!

Feel free to join in at whatever time works for you, just access Microsoft Teams with your uni login, here is the link to the team: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/team/19%3afc4c5f6ee43a4bc8b438045b12527786%40thread.tacv2/conversations?groupId=09781ecb-5133-4bda-ad0a-0dcdc75d2f29&tenantId=2b897507-ee8c-4575-830b-4f8267c3d307).

Very best of luck for all your exams and see you all Friday!

Imperial Art Club: submit all of your quARTantine pieces! - Google Drive 20/03/2020

Hey lovely people!!
Hope you and your families are all well and safe. We are really sad that we didn't get to do our last Make it Monday and Creative Fridays this week, and that we won't be able to host our Art Therapy Fridays next term... so here are two things we're proposing for this quarantining period!!

1 - Posting your quarantine art on our social media:

We want to encourage everyone to keep up your creativity and artsy moods and skills by asking yall to submit the art that you are making during this quarantining period. Lets make it all a bit less dull and fill IAC with your amazing work and your Facebook and Instagram feeds with wholesome content! Send us your pictures through to [email protected] or add them to this Google Drive Folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1WwSHfswpxmQVZfTgnvLU6pLRaP8iJMd6?fbclid=IwAR1jGKji0dPPxDGAIWS-qjjv-4KGQZ-6zIGcEZZROLCAQeBXaJraBpiloqQ . Can't wait to see them! 😍😍

2 - Virtual QuARTantine Therapy Fridays (15-18pm UK time):

We plan on connecting every Friday afternoon through Microsoft Teams (just access it with your uni login, here is the link to the team: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/channel/19%3afc4c5f6ee43a4bc8b438045b12527786%40thread.tacv2/Generale?groupId=09781ecb-5133-4bda-ad0a-0dcdc75d2f29&tenantId=2b897507-ee8c-4575-830b-4f8267c3d307). Let's chat and make art together despite being apart! Doesn't matter whether you have access to loads of materials or not - it might be your opportunity to start exploring using pens and practicing your sketching skills, working on your digital art, or making crafts with things you find lying around the house. Whatever you fancy, just grab a cup of tea/coffee/whatever you fancy and get creative! Feel free to join in at whatever time works for you.
(Side note: Since we are aware that we are probably spread around the globe, please let us know if these times are unsuitable for lots of you, we can try and organise another time for you/feel free to use the platform to organise and connect with each other at other times!)

We hope that you are doing well wherever you are, we wish you all good health and remember to stay safe, positive, and support each other! And, of course, if you are in a country affected by the virus, please !

❤️❤️❤️

Art Club 09/01/2020

Hellooo everyone! We hope that you had a lovely break and that your exams are going well/went well for those of you who have them. Remember to take breaks and take care of yourselves too - what better way to release stress than making some artsy things?

This term we have quite a few exciting things happening with the art club. Along with out usual Make it Mondays, Creative Fridays, and gallery visits, we have a couple of other things you can take part in.

•---------------------------------------•

1) IAC T-shirt competition:

Send in your t-shirt design for the art club! Everyone will then be able to vote for their favourite to be made into the 2020 ICA t-shirt. Deadline is the 30th of January, submit your designs by sending them to [email protected] 😁❤️.

•---------------------------------------•

2) Yearly IAC Exhibition at the Blyth Gallery:

This year our exhibition title is 'A moment to reflect'. We are very excited to see all of your creations!
Notes from our dev sec: we will create an interactive space for people to reflect and take a moment to themselves.

Some ideas to get those creative juices flowing:
• Art created about a place you go to reflect
• Art created while you were reflecting about something (memories, feelings etc)
• Literal reflections (e.g. landscapes, mirrors, self-portraits)
• Self-reflection (your identity e.g. sexuality, race, gender, religion etc)

It would be great to have a variety of pieces submitted, so don’t be afraid to submit sculptures or create an installation (interactive/multisensory pieces would be v cool 😎). Large pieces are also welcome! Please also remember there is NO SKILL LEVEL required to submit to the exhibition. Also feel free to submit any previous work which you think fits the theme.
(Just as a quick note, unfortunately we do have some restrictions regarding content which can be displayed, as the gallery space is open for anyone to walk through. Basic rules are no graphic nudity or offensive language. Keep it PG 13, sorry kiddos.)

The exhibition will be up in the gallery from the 4th-21st of February, and the submission deadline is on the 25th of January. Please bring your art to any Monday or Friday session (or feel free to arrange another time if you can't make it by shooting us an email at [email protected]).

•---------------------------------------•

As a last note, I wanted to welcome back everybody who has already been a part of this club, but also welcome any new peeps! For those of you who are new to the club, we are a very chill ad friendly club looking to take of the stress and disconnect from the scientific world with some art! These are what we do on a regular basis:

- Make it Mondays: these are every Monday from 18.30-20.30, in room 403a of the EEE building. Every week we have a different theme, so make sure to get on our mailing list and follow our page! Sessions are £3 for non-members, £2 for members, with a discount if you buy a set of 5 or 10 sessions. Your first session of the academic year is free!

- Creative Fridays: every week we open up the studio in the West Basement of the Beit Quad to everybody for free from 17:00-20:00. This is very chill and gives you space to wind down and chat with fellow students who enjoy making art. Feel free to use any of the materials in the studio!

- Membership grants you access to the studio 24/7; you can use materials as you please, though we do ask that you do not take them away from the studio. It will also give you priority to gallery visit tickets, and heavily reduce the prices of the Monday sessions. Buy it today at: https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/activities/a-to-z/leonardo-fine-arts !

Can't wait to see you all there!!! And to see all of your beautiful creations for the t-shirts and exhibition😁😁❤️!!
