Year 1 animal habitat explorers! 🐧🌿

In their technology lessons, Year 1 explorers discovered the amazing places animals call home! From icy polar regions to deep oceans and leafy jungles, we explored different habitats and talked about the special features that help animals survive there. 🐠❄️🌳

We shared new facts, asked brilliant questions, and recorded all the exciting things we learned along the way. What fantastic explorers we have in Year 1!

Huge thanks to Charlie, a PhD researcher from UCL, who visited the Upper School recently. Charlie delivered a highly informative and inspirational talk on the evolution of dinosaurs and the modern science of palaeontology. 🦕🦖

Yesterday, Year 5 said farewell to their cherished Painted Lady butterflies! The newly-freed insects soared gleefully up to the skies, exploring the wonders of Arkwright Road and beyond! 🦋

The children had the privilege of observing their journey, from their humble caterpillar beginnings to their mesmerizing metamorphosis within their chrysalises. After a transformative period of approximately two weeks, they emerged as beautiful butterflies. 🐛🦋

Reception had a wonderful morning recently celebrating David Attenborough's 100th birthday with their families at stay and play. They searched for endangered animals, made binoculars and embraced all things wild with many more exciting activities in their classrooms!

Learning Through Play 🧩

In Oaks Nursery, we nurture independence, resilience and confidence through child-led learning. Every classroom space is designed for children to explore, choose and learn together 🌱

Recently, three children independently chose a puzzle to complete as a team. Through collaboration, problem-solving and communication, they worked together to achieve a shared goal, building key skills that support their learning journey into Reception and beyond.
