Our sensory garden area is loved by the nursery children and is available to them throughout their outdoor sessions year round. It has been designed to appeal to all of the senses as we have a smell area with herbs and different smelling plants, a texture area with plants with different leaf and seed textures, a sound area with bamboos and plants the wind blows through and a sight area with plants with different colour and shape flowers and blossoms. It is also a natural habitat for various bugs and insects which the children like to look for.

What a wonderful response to our call for donations to Lewisham Food Bank as part of our Harvest Class Brunches.
Our parents have gone above and beyond with their generosity and all donations are gratefully received.
It was wonderful to welcome parents back into the Nursery garden last week to enjoy these events.

Thank you :)

This lovely bench and thoughtful wordcloud were gifted to us by our summer leavers. They are great reminders of the fun that we had with you all!

Thank you all x

Thank you to the Ransom family for the painting of the Nursery!
We were also thrilled to find that the Nursery features in Amy's new book.

Look at some of the fun Sunshine Room have been having recently.

The children have had the opportunity to have eggs in an incubator in nursery and see them hatch and grow into chicks. All of the children have seen the chicks and the older children were able to hold them or stroke them.

The babies in Rainbow Room have had lots of opportunities for investigation and exploration, including the chicks we had at nursery

Treetops have had lots of fun in the nursery garden, practising physical skills and having fun!

Some of the children in Garden Room have built some amazing structures, clocktowers and castles.

Here are a few of the potatoes that we have harvested that the children in Garden Room have grown.
The children have helped to plant the seed potatoes, water the growing plants and pull them up and hunt for the new potatoes. We will be cooking and eating them tomorrow.

Children in Treetops have enjoyed a range of activities; exploring different textures and having fun.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Royal Wedding breakfast last week, we hope you enjoyed it as much as the children.
The children in garden room discussed the royal wedding and this led on to conversations about family weddings, thank you to all the parents who sent in photos of their weddings or photos of family weddings. They made play cakes from sponges, shaving foam icing and pompoms and also made a real cake to share.
We looked at the colours in the Union Jack flag and mixed the colours to see what other colours could be made.

The children in Garden Room are very excited to see their vegetables sprout and the flower seeds and bulbs start to flower

Sunshine Room visited Sutcliffe Park, they were interested in the park map, deciding which way to go to find the pond.
Whilst at the park the children saw ducks and ducklings and the swans and cygnets.
A snail on the grass was a highlight of the trip.

The babies in Rainbow Room have enjoyed sensory activities, using their bodies to explore and investigate; lots of mess, lots of fun.

Garden Room children have an ongoing interest with bugs this week. We have visited Sutcliffe Park this week to go on a bug hunt, we took magnifier glasses and had a photos of bugs to look for. The children have also enjoyed our new play bugs, using the computer to research their names, what they eat and where they live.

Rainbow babies have had a great week with exploring various sensory activities.🤗

Treetops children have been busy exploring the mud kitchen, filling and emptying containers and exploring texture by mixing soil, bark and water. Making the most of the beautiful sunshine😀

Treetops have helped to make tea today with Olivia; they have made pizza pinwheels, helping to make the dough, spread the tomatoes and cheese.

Into the oven and then, mmmm, delicious.

The babies in Rainbow Room have helped to collage life size cut outs of themselves over the last few weeks.

We were lucky enough to have the lovely ladies from Magical Brushes come into Garden Room and Sunshine Room today to face paint and do glitter tattoos for a child's birthday and leaving party. The children had lots of fun, and as you can see, some of the adults did too.

Thanks to Tracy, Marie and Helen we now have a mud kitchen for the children at nursery. Big thank you to parents to have donated items to this project.

Garden Room visited Mudshute City Farm on Friday; we saw and fed lots of animals, traveled on a bus and the DLR, had ice-cream and the highlight of the day for the children when asked was their packed lunch!

Today the older children discussed St George and the dragon, they retold the story after making their own shield, sword and hats.
Happy St George's Day everyone 22/01/2018

Greenwich council have carried out a food hygiene inspection at the nursery. We have been given the top 5 * rating again! Well done to Rob and all the nursery staff on a great result!

Garden Room have been learning how to use tools safely and they have created some amazing wood work pieces! Have a look at our new display and see if you can guess what they have made!

Children in Sunshine and Garden room looked at traditional African pots. We spoke about the shape and size and the patterns that we could see. We then used clay that we mined from the nursery foundations to create our own African art. To learn more about traditional African art you could visit this gallery.

Garden room has been looking at the theme of Buildings this month. The children have been working very hard with our art teacher to create these wonderful clay houses. They have looked and spoken about a variety of homes to help with their creation.

The children in Garden Room have been learning about making healthy food choices. The children have been working with their parents at home looking at different foods and have make their own healthy plates. At mealtimes they really enjoy making their own healthy decisions.

We now have even more brand new books in the nursery library for you to enjoy with your child! The children also use the library as a quiet place to play boards games with their friends to develop their social skills, language, vocabulary as well as early maths skills.

if you would like to learn more about these skills with your child check out the link below!

All the children had a fantastic time today at their weekly yoga session!
Kamlyn's from YogaBeez Children's Yoga this week talked about the theme of caring for ourselves and each other.
When you are at home with your child why not ask them what they said that they loved the most!
