IGBÓ-ỌRÀ
Igbó-ọ̀rà wà ní Ìpínlẹ̀ Ọ̀yọ́, ìlú náà gbajúmọ̀ fún bíbí ìbejì, kódà a lè pè ní "olú-ìlú ìbejì ní àgbáyé. Ìwádìí sọ pé wọn ní ọ̀bẹ̀ kan tí ó ń lapa lórí bíbí ìbejì ní ìlú náà, orúkọ ọbẹ̀ náà ni ìlasa.
Wọ́n máa ń ṣe ọdún ìbejì ní ìlú náà lọ́ọdudún, ọdún ńlá ni torí pé wọn fẹ́ràn, wọ́n sì mọ rírí àwọn ìbejì bákan náà ni wọ́n rí ìbejì bíbí gẹ́gẹ́ bí àmì ire. Igbó-ọ̀rà jẹ́ ìlú tí ó ní àṣà àti ìṣe tó yáyì.

Igbo-ọrà is located in Ọ̀yọ́ State and is famous for twins birth, we can call it the "capital of twins". Research says they consume a soup that is likened to the phenomenon of birthing twin which is called "ọbẹ̀ ìlasa.
They celebrate ọdún ìbejì annually and it is a big event because cherish and appreciate the birth of twins and it is also viewed as a symbol of goof fortune. Igbó-ọrà is a beautiful town with cultural heritage.

ÀROKÒ
Àrokò jẹ́ ìlò àmì láti fún ìbánisọ̀rọ̀. Ní ayé àtijọ́ àrokò jẹ́ ọ̀nà kan gbòógì láti fi ò̩rò̩ às̩íri ràns̩é̩ sí eni tó wá ní ò̩nà jínjìn, àrokò máa ń dín àròyé kù torí fúnrare̩ ni yóò túmò̩ ara rè̩. Ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ nǹkan la fi ń pàrokò ní ilẹ̀ Yorùbá, lára àwọn tí a fi ń pa àrokò láyé ni màrìwò ọ̀pẹ́, owó ẹyọ, ìlarun, fìlà, bàtà, igbá òfìfo, ewé akòko àti bẹ́ẹ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ.
Àpẹẹrẹ àrokò: tí wọ́n bá fi bàtà ẹsẹ̀ òsì ẹnìkan ráńṣẹ́ sí ẹlòmíràn, ó túmọ̀ sí pé ẹni tí ó ní bàtà náà ti kú.
Tí olùránṣẹ́ bá fi owó ẹyọ mẹ́fà sí agbaṣẹ́, ó túmọ̀ sí pé olùránṣẹ́ ń ṣe àfẹ́rí ẹni tí ó ráńṣẹ́ sí. Àrokò yìí wọ̀pọ̀ láàárín àwọn olólùfẹ́.

Àrokò is a Yorùbá non verbal communication. It was a prominent form of communication in the olden days to send important messages to a decoder at far distances, àrokò reduces frivolous discussion because it will decode itself to the decoder. There are numerous items to be used as àrokò, some of them are palm frond, cowrie, cutting comb, cap, shoe, empty calabash, akòko leaf etc. Example of àrokò: if an individual's left shoe is sent to another person as Àrokò it signifies the owner of the sandal is dead.
Six cowrie tied together signifies the sender is longing to see the reciever. This is often used between lovers.

Àwọn ohun àjogúnbá wa ni oúnjẹ ìbílẹ̀ Yorùbá, ó ń ṣàfihàn àṣà, ìṣe, ìgbàgbọ́ àti ìtàn wa, torí náà o se pàtàkì kí a ṣe àwọn orúkọ oúnjẹ wọ̀nyí lọ́jọ́ kódà bí a bá ń bá àwọn tí wọn kò gbọ́ èdè Yorùbá sọ̀rọ̀. Kàká kí a máa ṣe ògbufọ̀ àmàlà, àkàrà, èbìrìpò, ègbo, èkuru, ẹ̀bẹ, ìkọ́kọrẹ́, iyán, mọ́ínmọ́ín, ọ̀jọ̀jọ̀, àti bẹ́ẹ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ sí èdè Gẹ̀ẹ́sì, a lè ṣe àpèjúwe àwọn ohun èlò, bí wọn ṣe ń sè é àti adùn rẹ̀ láì sọ orúkọ abínibí wọn nù. Ìtàn wa hànde nínú àwọn oúnjẹ wọ̀nyí, bí a bá sì ṣe àwọn orúkọ wọn lọ́jọ́, ó túmọ̀ sí pé a bọ̀wọ̀ fún ìdánimọ̀ tí wọ́n dúró fún bákan náà ni à ń mú kí àwọn ẹlòmíràn ní àǹfààní sí oúnjẹ náà tí wọ́n yóò sì ní òye nípa wọn.

Yorùbá indigenous foods are our heritage; they showcase our culture, tradition, belief, and history, which is why their original names deserve to be preserved even when speaking to non-Yorùbá audiences. Rather than translating àmàlà, àkàrà, èbìrìpò, ègbo, ẹ̀bẹ, ìkọ́kọrẹ́, iyán, mọ́ínmọ́ín, ọ̀jọ̀jọ̀ into shallow English equivalents, we can describe their ingredients, preparation, and flavour while keeping the authentic names alive. Our food carries our story, and by retaining those names, we honour the identity they hold and still make our cuisine accessible and understandable to others.

AṢỌ IṢẸ́ ÀGBẸ̀ /FARMERS’ WORK CLOTHES
Láyé àtijọ́, ẹ̀wù gbérí àti ṣòkòtò dígò ni àgbẹ̀ ń wọ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí aṣọ iṣẹ́ wọn. Gbérí àgbẹ̀ yàtọ̀ sí ti ọdẹ nítorí pé gbérí ọdẹ máa ń ní àpò níwájú àti lẹ́hìn, tíLáyé àtijọ́, ẹ̀wù gbérí àti ṣòkòtò dígò ni àgbẹ̀ ń wọ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí aṣọ iṣẹ́ wọn. Gbérí àgbẹ̀ yàtọ̀ sí ti ọdẹ nítorí pé gbérí ọdẹ máa ń ní àpò níwájú àti lẹ́hìn, tí àgbẹ̀ kì í ní àpò. àgbẹ̀ kì í ní àpò.

In the olden days, gbérí shirts and ṣòkòtò dígò were the traditional work clothes worn by farmers. But a farmer’s gbérí was not quite the same as a hunter’s. While the hunter’s gbérí was designed with pockets at both the front and back for carrying useful items, the farmer’s was made without pockets.

While goats are common in many Yoruba towns, Ìtọ́kín town in Lagos State is different. According to Kabiyesi Ogunnoki, the people once kept goats until their forefathers returned from the farm one day to find the goats walking on their hind legs like humans! 😳 Terrified, the reigning Kabiyesi consulted the oracle and ordered all the goats in the town to be killed. Since then, keeping goats as domestic animals has remained a taboo in Itoikin.
