From Care Coordinator → Enterprise Tech Sales 🚀
Craig Simba Machiya made the jump from care into tech and is now an Enterprise BDR at Pendo.io.
No computer science degree.
No traditional tech background.
No perfect starting point.
He focused on learning the right skills, building consistency, and taking action every week.
That shift changed everything.
From supporting people in care, to building conversations with enterprise companies in tech.
Different industry.
Different environment.
Same work ethic.
Too many people think they need years of experience before making a move into tech sales.
Craig proved otherwise.
The right strategy opens doors.
The right environment builds confidence.
The right actions create momentum.
Your current role does not decide your future.
Your next decision does.
Bigger growth.
Bigger opportunities.
Bigger future.

"“Why tech sales?”
It sounds simple… but it’s one of the most important questions in the entire interview.
And most candidates answer it with something vague like:
“I’m a people person” or “I love a challenge.”
The problem?
That’s what everyone says.
What interviewers are actually trying to figure out is:
• Have you genuinely thought about this career?
• Do you understand what the job involves?
• Or are you just here because you heard the money is good?
A strong answer does four things:
1️⃣ Explains what specifically drew you to tech sales
2️⃣ Shows what you’ve done to prepare
3️⃣ Proves you understand the realities of the role (targets, rejection, consistency)
4️⃣ Clearly answers why this company
And yes — money can be part of your answer.
Saying you want a performance-based career where effort links to earnings is completely valid.
Just make sure it’s not your only reason.
The candidates who stand out don’t give polished, generic answers.
They give specific, personal, well-thought-out ones.
That’s exactly what we help you build at EntrTech.

"Got a gap on your CV? 👀
First — relax.
It’s not the dealbreaker you think it is.
Especially in tech sales 👇
Companies care more about your mindset + preparation than a perfect timeline.
Where most people mess up:
→ Apologising for the gap
→ Over-explaining it
→ Trying to hide it
That’s what makes it feel like a problem.
Here’s the better way:
→ Be clear about why it happened
→ Share what you did during that time (learning, freelance, life stuff all counts)
→ If you prepared for tech sales, highlight it
→ Bring the focus back to what you can do now
Simple. Confident. No overthinking.
Because the truth is 👇
Gaps don’t disqualify you. Your story does.
At EntrTech, we help you turn your story into something that actually works for you.

Breaking into tech sales doesn’t mean you need to quit your job tomorrow.
Most people make the switch while working full time. The difference is how they use the time they have. A few focused hours each week learning the fundamentals, improving their LinkedIn, connecting with people in the industry, and practicing outreach can create real momentum.
Tech sales is a practical career. You prepare for it by doing the work, not by waiting until you feel “ready.”
With the right structure, the transition can happen faster than most people think.
At EntrTech, many of our students made the move while balancing full-time jobs. The program is designed to help you learn the skills, understand the industry, and position yourself for real opportunities in tech sales.

"Got your first offer? 👀
Don’t rush to say yes.
Most candidates accept immediately…
but in tech sales, negotiation is expected.
This is a commercial role.
If you can’t advocate for yourself here, it raises questions 👇
So what should you do?
→ Take 24 hours to review (don’t negotiate on the spot)
→ Know the market rate before you respond
→ Focus on base salary (that’s where flexibility usually is)
And keep it simple:
“Based on similar roles, I was hoping to be closer to £X.”
If they can’t adjust on salary, look at:
→ Review timelines
→ Remote flexibility
→ Other benefits
Here’s the truth:
A reasonable negotiation almost never costs you the offer.
But not negotiating?
That can cost you long-term.
At EntrTech, we help you handle moments like this with confidence.

"Most cover letters don’t work…
because they all sound the same.
“I am writing to apply for…” ❌
That’s where you lose attention.
A strong cover letter does one thing well:
It makes someone want to keep reading.
Keep it simple 👇
→ Why this role
→ Why this company
→ Why you
And most importantly — prove it.
Don’t say: “I’m a great communicator”
Show it with real examples and results.
Keep it short, clear, and intentional.
If you can’t make your case in 300 words, it’s too long.
Because your cover letter isn’t there to explain everything…
It’s there to get you to the next step.
At EntrTech, we help you write applications that actually get callbacks.

"Do you have any questions for us?” 👀
This is where most candidates fumble.
They either say “no”…
or ask something basic they could’ve Googled.
But this moment?
It can completely change how you’re perceived.
The right questions show:
→ You understand the role
→ You’re thinking commercially
→ You know what good looks like
Instead of asking surface-level things, ask questions that actually matter 👇
• What does a top performer do differently?
• How many reps hit quota consistently?
• What does coaching look like?
• Is there real progression here?
And if you really want to stand out:
Ask 👉 “Do you have any concerns about my fit?”
Most people won’t.
That’s exactly why it works.
Because interviews aren’t just about answering well…
They’re about asking better questions.
At EntrTech, we help you show up prepared from both sides of the conversation.
