I rarely post anything personal on my work inst-feed but as this is my last post for a week - as I want to take a step back on my holiday before the madness of the Winter term - AND this is CPD (!) I couldnt help but post these photos of the most amazing time we had at a Balinese cooking class, at Rumah’s cooking class - Putu Ramayani
Not only was the food that Rumah guided us gently and patiently through (as we had to blend the paste with a mortar and pestle) full of flavour and colour and organic and natural, once having cooked and eaten together we chatted...
And sitting under an old Balinese grain store we spoke about food, culture, life, marriage, family, hopes, dreams as though I was talking to an old friend and sitting in a kitchen in England. Perfect moments.
Happy cooking and eating and sharing together, will be back on Monday 7th x
We cooked:
Soup (appetizer) : vegetable (pumpkin/young jackfruit), chicken and balinese sauce
-Tum: chicken choper, balinese sauce, wrapped with banana leaf and we steamer
-Satay: chicken choper, grated coconut, balinese sauce and grill with lemon grass stick
-Urab: mix vegetable, grated coconut and balinese sauce
-Loteng Jagung: young coconut, egg, rice flour, balinese sauce and we fried
-dadar gulung (dessert): balinese pancake with coconut and palm sugar
