Exciting news

I’m embarking on a 550 mile ride to be achieved in five days, in the sweltering heat, for an incredible young man, Jake Chodosh and Norwood charity at the end of next month.

Norwood is an extraordinary charity and close to my heart and Jake is an incredible young man, 27 years old who is non-verbal and severely autistic.

I will be cycling Jake on a tandem with others in turn. I have totally self funded this event.

I’m prepared to put in the hard miles.
All I ask is that you click on the link and do the easy bit by supporting me and Jake.

Tantrums of ‘terrible twos’ seen in much older children in pandemic 21/05/2021

An important piece of research picked up by The Guardian earlier this week on the negative impact that Covid-19 and the lockdowns are having on the mental health of younger children.

Parents are reaching out to me to help with low-esteem and anxiety issues their children are dealing with as a direct result of the last year. A really worrying time but thankfully there are techniques available to help get children of all ages to a much better place.

PARENTING WORKSHOPS AS PART OF THE CORPORATE WELLBEING PACKAGE.

Earlier this year I delivered parenting workshops for employees at PepsiCo. Right now most parents are struggling with the same issues - mindset and motivation, screen time and siblings, confidence and helping kids find their voice. Here's a little more about how my sessions work. And do let me know if you think this is something your organisation would be interested in.

THE KEY TO CONFIDENT KIDS? LET THEM ACT THEIR AGE

We expect so much of our children, don’t we? But right now it’s so important to let them be children. Whether they’re a little one playing with toys on the floor, or a teenager who leaves their clothes all over the floor!

Don't expect your child to act like an adult. When a child feels that they’re expected to perform and behave as an adult would, they’ll feel that they can’t measure up. You’re setting an unrealistic standard that will only discourage them. Expectations need to be age appropriate, and if they’re not this can have a serious affect on their confidence levels.

Confidence is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give their child. Do you agree?

But many parents feel that they’re failing as confidence levels have been knocked in our kids as a result of the restrictions over the last 12 months. Parents are struggling to motivate their children. Many are still working from home and the juggle is all too real. They’re panicking about ‘lost time’ and putting pressure on their children. They’re comparing children with their siblings and fighting with them over screen time.

It’s not always easy to admit these things, but from my corporate sessions where I’ve been working with working parents, to my one to one sessions with families, let me tell you that you’re not alone.

If I can help in any way, either in a corporate setting to support occupational wellbeing of team members, or on a one-to-one basis, please do get in touch. There are some simple steps you can take to get yourself and your children back on track.

PARENTING. DO YOU EXPECT PERFECTION IN YOUR CHILD?

As a kids confidence coach I also offer advice to parents on how best to parent their children so that they can thrive and be the best versions of themselves. One of the big mistakes parents make is expecting perfection. (But it’s not something most parents will own up to!).

High expectations are super healthy and good for children. But expecting TOO much has its consequences. If the expectations are too high, children might just give up and not bother because they feel they’ll never measure up.

So what to do instead? Create short term, achievable milestones that work towards the bigger goals. Celebrate the little wins along the way. Each time you do, you’ll be boosting your child’s confidence and making them feel great about themselves.

**PARENTING IN A PANDEMIC - It's been tough hasn't it? **

Lots of the parents and children I'm working with have had their confidence knocked over the last year and anxiety is still riding high. But that's my area of expertise! I'm a children's confidence coach based in London.

I work with parents and children on boosting confidence and positive mindset so that our kids are in tip top shape to learn and thrive. A big part of my work is helping children prepare for independent school interviews. In fact I cover so many areas around confidence, learning and positivity, including some great advice around parenting - comparing kids, social media usage, motivation.

If you have any concerns or any questions, please do get in touch or drop me a DM. It'd be great to chat. Nadine.

Anti-social media. The affect social media is having on our kids and how to tackle it — Confidence in Kids 21/04/2021

🌟 HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD HANDLE SOCIAL MEDIA 🌟 It's one of the questions I get asked the most. And it's a tricky one. Throughout lockdown our children have used social media more than ever. It's allowed them to socialise but I think you'd agree that it can knock their self-esteem. Do let me know what's working for you and your children and if I can help in anyway, please do get in touch.

Wellbeing recovery: what should summer support programmes look like for schoolchildren this year? 31/03/2021

Why I think we need to press the reset button when it comes to summer support for school children.

To find self-esteem, resilience, social skills, physical development and wellbeing, we must look to 5 points to recalibrate in preparation for the next academic year.

1. Good nutrition for your child
2. Better sleep routines in place are a must for physical and mental wellbeing
3. Physical activity – outdoors, amongst nature,
4. Free time – to play, improvise, socialise and integrate amongst other peers.
5. The final two words are RESET BUTTON for mental health and physical strength.

I'd love to you know your thoughts after reading the report.

Wellbeing recovery: what should summer support programmes look like for schoolchildren this year? This is a rapid, evidence-based response to the policy need that was identified at IPPO's roundtable discussion on the mental health and wellbeing of young people.
