Online talk series: Disinformation and technology 💭🔥

Tuesday 20th October 2020
17:15 - 18:00 (BST)

This discussion will be centred around disinformation and technology during the 2019 General Election and touching on how disinformation from traditional media is spread on social media looking at examples from the EU referendum. A good recommended read is "Disinformation's Societal Impact: Britain, Covid and Beyond". This discussion is open to everyone, no matter your knowledge on the topic, we will start this session with a mini "talk" then open the floor to a discussion.

Meet the Team - Georgie, President

Hey, I'm Georgie, this years Hacksmiths President!! I am in my final year of BSc Digital Arts Computing, my artistic practise is illustrative based but I am exploring combining my illustrative practise with computational techniques. My practise looks at political themes like disinformation, UK politics and more recently gentrification specifically in Southwark. ✨

As Hacksmiths President I hope to reimagine some of our traditional Hacksmiths events in an online environment as well as to begin some really interesting discussions around the ethics of technology. We have a lot planned for this year so keep an eye out for more information soon 🔥
