Did you know that a 3-year old (top left image) and a 6-year old (top right image) have significantly different skeletal structure in their hands?! Notice the bones in the wrist of the 3-year old -- many of them are still mostly cartilage! Look at all the spaces in between the bones where muscles and tendons will change through the years. Even the difference between a 6-year old and a 14-year old (lower right) is huge!

Preschoolers have SO much development to do before they can write the way school-aged children or adults can!

Please do NOT stress if your preschooler does not want to write or draw. Some love it and some don't.

While they are growing those little bones and muscles! Here are some great pre-writing, muscle-strengthening activities:

* painting, drawing, coloring
* playdough
* tearing and cutting
* gluing
* poking holes in things (try toothpicks and paper!)
* digging in dirt
* building with LEGOS, marble runs, or other blocks
* beading (try beads, cut straws, or even bobbins!)
* puzzles
* squeezing (try stress balls, squeezing water in a sponge, or using a pipette)
* picking up and throwing balls (use different sizes!)
* playing with toys (watch what their little fingers do when they pick up and move little cars, marbles, action figures, etc!)

These all strengthen and help develop little hands, muscles, and bones. When they are physically ready to write, it will be so much easier than if they were pushed when they didn't want to and weren't ready! 😊

I am recruiting on behalf of a fantastic nursery in Bexleyheath that are looking for 2 practitioners to start as soon as possible.
We are looking for outstanding Nursery Assistants to join this Day Nursery on a permanent contract. To be considered for this role you will need:
• A Minimum of Level 2 qualification
• 1 year’s childcare experience
• Knowledge of the EYFS
You will be required to work a range of shifts split over 30-35 hours per week between 7am and 6:30pm

I am recruiting on behalf of a fantastic nursery in Bexleyheath that are looking for 2 practitioners to start as soon as possible.
We are looking for outstanding Nursery Assistants to join this Day Nursery on a permanent contract. To be considered for this role you will need:
• A Level 3 qualification in childcare
• Knowledge of the EYFS
We have two part time positions available, you will either be required to work 3 days a week Monday Wednesday and Friday between 12:30pm and 6:30pm (18 hours per week) or 3 days a week between 9:30 and 6:30 (24 hours per week)

World Book Day

WORLD BOOK DAY IS ON 4TH MARCH 2021 and we will be joining in with the celebrations.

The aim of world book day is to encourage the children to explore the pleasure of books and reading. The website www.worldbookday.com has a host of fun activities, games and information for you to explore.

As part of our celebration we will be joining in with 'dress as a book character' day and asking for a donation of £1 per child towards new books!

We would love to see as many of our children dressed as a character from their favourite books! 😊

We are inviting you to wear a Christmas Jumper on Friday 11th, also a reminder that it is our Christmas Parties on this day. Acorn and Willow room party at 10-11am and Oak Room party at 11-12pm. If your child does not normally attend on a Friday morning they are welcome to do so for their party time only. There will be a list of party food available from tomorrow and we are kindly asking for parents to bring in one item from the list if you are able to do so. We look forward to seeing all of your festive party wear! 🎄🎅🏼 🎉 🎁

Mayfair Day Nursery has welcomed two new members to our family today! We have some beautiful terrapin turtles! 😃 We need your help to give them names.
