121 people have already animated with us this summer and we're not finished yet!!
This summer alone we’ve welcomed 121 participants across Essex, London and Buckinghamshire. From children and young people attending our holiday programmes to families creating together at the Roald Dahl Museum.

We've delivered our own summer holiday clubs alongside partnership programmes with Camden Summer University, The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre and Focal Point Gallery, bringing filmmaking and animation to children, young people and families in a range of settings.

We also created the wonderful short 2D animation Small Worlds with an extremely talented group of young animators at Mouth That Roars.

Funding from The Tudwick Foundation has helped us provide free places for children with SEND and those from low income families, helping to make our holiday programmes accessible to more young people, while our Southend Animated project funded by the Community Investment Board has got off to a flying start with two drop in sessions already delivered.

And there’s still more to come!

We have a few spaces remaining at our Leigh-on-Sea and North London holiday clubs next week, before we head to Harlow for the next stage of Animating Essex.

We have a small number of free places available on our Animation Club at Leigh Community Centre on 28th August, thanks to funding from The Tudwick Foundation

The places are available for children aged 6–12 with a SEND diagnosis or who are currently on the pathway to assessment.

Over the day, children will explore a range of animation techniques including stop motion, toy animation, cut-out animation, silhouette animation, pixilation and Flipaclip, before creating their own short animations.

Children are welcome to bring their own tablet to learn on, or they can use the equipment we provide.

Our clubs are always inclusive and we regularly welcome children with a range of additional needs. For this particular session, children will need to be comfortable taking part independently in a group, as parents and carers won't be able to stay during the day.

📣📣 Calling London KS2 teachers!

Join our ambitious new project for London Primary Schools entitled An Animated History of London.
​
We are preparing a funding application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a 2 year history themed animation project for London primary schools.
​
Designed for Key Stage 2, schools will receive 6 free stop motion animation workshops per class (up to 2 classes per school), and a free workshop at one of our partner London Museums.

Children will explore London’s rich and varied heritage through museum visits and research lessons in school, bringing their findings to life through stop‑motion animation using paper cut‑out techniques.

The end of the project will culminate in a fantastic celebratory screening at a major cinema in London.
​
Our partner museums will act as a regional London hub for the schools, and final themes will be decided when all the schools are on board.

Confirmed partner museums include:

Bruce Castle Museum – Haringey
The Cinema Museum – Southwark
Brixton Windmill – Lambeth
The Grant Museum of Zoology – Westminster

Building on our successfully funded heritage project last year that took place in Enfield, this is a totally free project with all costs and materials covered.

🎬 New courses for North London over Easter Hols!
🐣3 days of Film and Animation fun!

Day 1 - Weds 8 April, an intro to animation for youngsters aged 5 to 8. Lots of art, model making and animating toys.

Day 2 - Thursday 9 April, developing film and animation skills using apps and models, suitable for beginners too, for ages 8 to 12.

Day 3 - Friday 10 April - Filmmaking for Teens - a new one day course using professional kit, developing camera work, sound recordings, directing and acting. Ages 12-15.

All located at NLS Shaftesbury Hall Bounds Green N11 2QN.
