The Physics Benevolent Fund 19/01/2022

The Physics Benevolent Fund – helping PhD students ease the stress of financial hardship

The Physics Benevolent Fund exists to offer financial help during tough times – including COVID-19 – and can assist individuals and their dependants hit by financial worries and difficulties brought on by a range of factors including the loss of a job, illness or to provide support for issues during PhD study. This can include help with costs arising from travel to international research institutions, conferences or for visits to other researchers relevant to PhD studies where no other financial support is available.

Further details can be found on the IOP website including how to apply.

Who is brave enough to try the egg challenge?!

IOP has launched a TikTok challenge to engage new audiences in the Limit Less campaign

1. Record a video of yourself (or your friends) walking on eggs – hopefully successfully!
2. Provide a very brief explanation of how this is possible and that it is explained by physics
3. Challenge others to do the same and use the hashtag
4. Post the video with the hashtags and
5. Share the explanation at standoneggs.iop.org as a pinned reply to the video
