Hammersmith Academy students were invited to the Natural History Museum, London for the launch of the Government's proposed Natural History GCSE.
The event provided students with the opportunity to engage directly with leading figures from education, science and conservation, including Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson.
Students took part in natural science activities and contributed to discussions about the future of environmental education and the role young people can play in understanding and protecting the natural world.
Students also joined a discussion with renowned naturalist, explorer, presenter and author Steve Backshall.
At Hammersmith Academy, we are committed to ensuring students have opportunities to engage with the issues, ideas and developments that will shape their futures. We are proud that our students were able to contribute to this important national conversation.

Our students took part in an engaging ZooLab workshop, exploring key topics such as habitats, adaptation and ecosystems.
They studied a snake, treefrog, giant land snail, stick insect, cockroach and tarantula up close, bringing their classroom learning to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
The session also reinforced the importance of responsible and ethical handling of animals within a safe learning environment.
It was fantastic to welcome our primary school partners as well, giving younger students the opportunity to experience science beyond the classroom.
