This month Founder, Amanda Simone🙋🏿‍♀️, joined 📰, and Claer Barrett] to discuss actively time and money into a host of different areas.
One of the interesting considerations discussed was the impact of investing in 💰 for children 👦🏽 vs ‘Just in Time’ education (learning provided through at the point of service e.g just before taking out a fees loan 👩🏼‍💻). Claer Barrett] champions the FT’s philanthropic financial education programme delivered in schools and is keen to know how this might help children being schooled at home too. It's important to love 🙆🏽‍♀️💕what you do but, when homeschooling, it's even more important for your little learner to love 👧🏽💕🙋🏽‍♀️what you do & how you do it 🏡🌍🔭!
HINTS & TIPS 📝FROM THS (The Home School🏡🌍🔭): there's absolutely no need to be a qualified teacher to homeschool your little learner as a parent👩🏽‍🏫, but, where possible 👧🏽 you want to ensure their academic development 🧠is at least in line with their age group's average; this will help your child to achieve their personal best 🤓📝. If you don't know how to teach a subject🤔😕:
1) Don't stress out😩 - you're still their superhero🦸🏽‍♀️🥰
2) Don't pretend 🕵🏽‍♀️ - parents often try to learn the subject's teachings📝🤔 as they teach😕, but if both the parent and the child are learning at the same time 👧🏽🙇🏽‍♀️, then who's teaching🧐? Typically, we wouldn't be satisfied with a school 🗣️🏫telling us the adult🙋🏼‍♂️ teaching our child doesn't know their subject🤷🏼‍♂️ ... So think about whether this level of teaching will be good enough for your child simply because they're being homeschooled👧🏽📝🧠🤔.
3) Ask for help🙋🏽‍♀️🤓📝! Even if you don't employ ongoing external assistance 👩🏽‍🏫 like ours at 🏡🌍🔭 , you can seek advice initially👩🏽‍🏫, make a plan📝 and get professional guidance when needed along the way🙋🏽‍♀️. Even teachers go through continual professional training👩🏿‍🏫... You can too 🤓🙆🏿‍♀️💕
