π± "Will this actually make children safer online?"
That's the question we're asking at the Anti-Bullying Alliance following today's announcement of a proposed social media ban for under 16s.
π We all want children to be safer online.
β οΈ But we're concerned that many of the factors that drive bullying & other online harms could remain unchanged
β οΈ We're concerned children may still access social media, potentially in less regulated spaces.
β οΈ And we're concerned that technology companies could face less pressure to make their platforms safer
Children deserve safer online experiences, not just restrictions on access.
