We are delighted to announce that we have successfully been awarded ‘Millie’s Mark’, a nationally recognised Quality Mark for nurseries that demonstrates we go above and beyond the minimum requirements in paediatric first aid and have robust processes and documentation in place to ensure we keep children safe by minimising risks and accidents.
Our Millie’s Mark has been awarded to us by National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) in association with Department for Education and Millie’s Trust.
Millie’s Mark is named after Millie Thompson, who tragically died as a result of choking in a nursery in 2012. Her parents Dan and Joanne Thompson have since campaigned for all staff to have paediatric first aid training and having Millie’s Mark demonstrates that we not only provide this training to all staff but also work hard to keep these crucial skills in the forefront of employees’ minds, so they are competent and can apply paediatric first aid in any situation. Our risk assessments, policies and procedures were also audited by the Millie’s Mark panel to ensure that as a business we operate to the highest standards of safety and care.
Although we are now an official Millie’s Mark awarded nursery our hard work of continuously developing our quality care and education will not stop. At Storybook we are always striving to improve and it is our privilege to provide an outstanding depth, breadth and quality of Early Years education and care to your children.
