Lower blood pressure, improved blood circulation, and a reduced risk of heart disease – a walk to start your day can be a great way to keep your heart healthy. The Heart Foundation found walking for an average of 30 minutes a day can lower your risk of heart disease by 35%. Should you walk before or after breakfast?
As far as timing goes, try to move your body within an hour of eating—and the sooner the better. Colberg-Ochs says glucose tends to peak 72 minutes after food intake, so you'd want to get moving well before then. Even if you can only fit in a quick 10-minute walk, it'll be worth it.
