Did you know
Martial arts has massive physical health, mental health and internal health benefits?
At this time where the world has forced us to slow down, its important that we invest time into these areas and avoid the dreaded cabin fever.
There are many things we can do to feel better during quarantine.
- Breathing: be sure to take deep breaths with fresh air, maybe take a walk. Use Chi-Kung breathing methods, as it also increases your lung capacity, keeping your lungs strong is so important at this time, and in particular reverse breathing allows your body to take in more oxygen this breathing exercise is called Ni-Kung
- Making sure you keep have healthy eating patterns: as martial artist we are taught that food is also our chi or Qi, as well as breath, and healthy thoughts. Make sure you chose foods with nutritional value and avoid foods that will make you more tired, anxious and stressed
- Training: training and exercise releases natural endorphins which make you feel happier and more energised.
But Martial arts training goes beyond enhancing physical and mental health, it also provides a way to boost your brains cognition too.
Martial arts , like yoga boosts Attention State Training (AST)
AST is about getting into a specific state of mind that allows a stronger focus.
Martial arts is a form of AST, and supporting this, recent research has shown a link between practice and improved alertness.
Martial arts practice also reduced the level of aggressive behaviour, and found that practitioners were more likely to step in and help someone who was being bullied than before they took part in the training.
Martial arts combines, physical, metal and internal health through focus, physical movement and chi-Kung:
Healthy Benefits of Chi-Kung combined with martial training:
🌿 faster recovery from injury to the hands
🌿 an ability to hit with more force
🌿 an ability to move faster (speed is crucial in martial arts)
🌿 health benefits of being relaxed
🌿 an increase in connection to your legs, spine, arms and head
🌿 increased stamina
🌿 increased athletic ability and healt
