St. Barnabas Greek School, Wood Green, London Welcome to the Official page of St. Barnabas Greek School, located in Wood Green, N. London The School was established in the year 1965.

The Greek Orthodox Community of St Barnabas was established in the year 1965. First services took place in the hall of St Michael of the Anglican Church, Wood Green and later in St Mark’s, the Anglican Church in Gladstone Avenue, Wood Green. Shortly afterwards St Barnabas Church was rented from the Group of Catholic Apostolic churches. The Greek Cathedral of St Mary, Trinity Road, Wood Green was purchased from the Methodist Church in the year 1970. A few years later the premises of St Barnabas were also purchased. This community was considered the largest community of our Archdiocese. The School started with a small number of children and at one stage reached 1,200 pupils. It now has about three hundred students. Our school operates every Saturday, 9.30 am – 2.00 pm. The Secondary School of the Greek Embassy was accommodated in our school premises during the years 1998-2001. They since returned to our premises in September 2012.

Congratulations to our GCSE students for achieving outstanding results in their GCSE Greek examinations. Maintaining our school’s track record, 100% Pass Rate was once again achieved with a highlight of 90% Grades 9~7. Well done to our students who now move on to their A’ Level course. Dear All,

With great pleasure we announce our Annual CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA taking place NEXT SATURDAY 7TH DECEMBER 2024 in the School Hall from 12PM-3PM.

As with every year, we will be screening a Christmas Movie for our younger students, with food and drink for them to enjoy. In addition, we will have face painting, cakes and sweets, and other stalls selling wonderful things!

We will also be setting up a Christmas Cafe for all parents and carers to relax, whilst the children enjoy the festive fun in the main hall.

AND OF COURSE, we will have SANTA’S GROTTO - set up on stage, where Santa and his Elf will be greeting our students, listening to their Christmas Wish List, and providing each child with a SPECIAL GIFT!

We look forward to welcoming EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR STUDENTS to our Christmas Extravaganza NEXT WEEK!
