Years 12 & 13 enjoyed a night at the opera this week. They went to see Peter Grimes, by Benjamin Britten. The opera is based on a poem they're studying for their English A Level - so it was a great night and a great way to revise too.

SMMA Students Welcome The New Bishop Of Islington

We are honoured to have hosted the formal announcement of the new Bishop of Islington, Bishop Rod Green.

Our ceremony happened simultaneously with an announcement from 10 Downing Street. Here at SMMA, we were joined by the acting Bishop of London, Bishop Emma Ineson, who made the formal announcement and welcomed Bishop Rod Green into his new role.

The ceremony was followed by an assembly, with prayers led by our Sixth Formers, and a Q&A for our students with the new Bishop. SMMA Chaplain Revd Lara says, 'We were all proud and excited to be playing a major role in this important moment. It was a fantastic occasion, in which our students shone in every way.'

Our Drama students have been out and about recently. Year 9 gave a brilliant performance on stage at the Almeida Theatre as part of their Almeida Unlocked programme, while our Year 10 students made the trip to Hammersmith's Lyric Theatre as part of their preparations for a Devised Drama project.
