You may know or heard of the Bollywood movie Industry (which is born from India and also recognised as being bigger than the Hollywood movie industry) and heard of all the famous actors and actresses such as Sharhuk Khan and Madhuri Dixi (both starred in the famous Bollywood move -Devdas). If you have, then you may be wondering how the industry has managed to preserve most of the Indian culture for many years and how all the acting, dancing, singing, the costumes, the themes and many more things which influence the making of the movie in order to make a Bollywood hit. You may also be surprised to learn that Indian art and culture has also been strongly influenced by Bangladeshi art and culture. Devdas - the famous Bollywood block buster hit was written by a famous Bengali writer - Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Charullata Academy is the centre which provides the Historical educational and interactive experience to its visitors and students in order to teach the combined Indian and Bangladeshi art, culture and heritage. This will be taught by advanced and experienced teachers who will teach dance, singing, drama, instrumental music and workshops. As a participant you will also get the chance to attend live theatrical concerts and events. This is open to the public and anyone who is keen to learn or experience such an amazing feast of culture and art, are all welcome. It is fundamental to the academy that we do everything to preserve, promote and educate classical Indian and Bangladeshi art, culture and heritage. Some of our classes are free such as Bengali lessons for beginners to advance and Free Yoga classes for women only. As we are a not for profit organisation we want to give such important education and activities for free and hope that we can sustain this into the future as long as possible. Our mission is to educate, inspire and engage an audience to appreciate the art and culture from the ages through to the modern era and to identify the great story telling whether it be in a drama, movie, song, instrumental music or just a story.
