It's the globally recognised qualification for anyone serious about wine. From Level 1 right through to Level 3, South London Wine School runs accredited WSET courses at Streatham Wine House in Streatham Hill. Structured, sociable, and never stuffy!

We tasted 6 delicious Austrian wines yesterday... which were the favourites?

One was a Roter Veltliner, made by Weixelbaum. Not related to Gruner Veltliner, this white but pink-skinned grape makes a lovely wine. The group voted it joint favourite, due to its refeshing citrus with peach and melon flavours and rounded texture. One for with some cheese and charcuterie, or just to sip on its own in the sunshine!

The other favourite was Blaufränkisch 7301, made by Kirnbauer. (The 7301 is the winemaking couple's postcode). This is a big red, with flavours of black berries, spice and some savoury leather or earthy notes. We were all dreaming of pairing it with venison or a juicy steak.

We also tasted a fabulous traditional method Sekt that had spent 30 months on its lees, a complex, aged Gruner Veltliner, a juicy Zweigelt and a noble rot dessert wine. All the wines are available from Kipferl and a big shout out to Austrian Wine for selecting such a great range of wines!
