What a brilliant day spent at Trunk Logistics for our latest Move Assured get together, kindly hosted by our long standing members, Jason and Jake Bedding.

It was a fantastic opportunity for some excellent networking, catching up with other members, making new introductions, and sharing personal experiences and knowledge about our industry.

A big thank you also to three of our affiliate members, Woods Packaging, Removals Plus, and our newest certified member, CentralNest, who shared their expertise and insights.

All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day, made even better by the fabulous and very professional surroundings, great company, plenty of conversation, and, of course, lots of cake 🍰

MOVING HOUSE WITH A GRAND PIANO?

Are you moving house and have a grand piano? If so, you may have concerns about how to transport it safely and what steps need to be taken, and in what order.

If you are asking yourself, “Can I move my grand piano myself?”
The answer should be a resounding no!

Unless you have previous experience, moving a grand piano is a job best left to experienced professionals.

The difficulty and complexity of the work involved will increase according to the size of the piano. A Baby Grand will generally be easier and quicker to move than a Concert Grand, while the larger instrument may also be considerably more valuable.

When arranging your removal, make sure your removal company is aware that you have a grand piano. Provide them with the size and, if possible, the make and model.

You should also confirm that they have the knowledge and experience required to dismantle, relocate and reassemble the piano safely.

It is equally important to discuss the value of the piano and ensure that the appropriate insurance cover is in place. For particularly valuable instruments, additional specialist insurance may be required.

Access should also be considered well in advance. Lifts can often be too small to accommodate a grand piano, while staircases with bends, narrow doorways and restricted access can all present challenges.

Moving a grand piano is a highly skilled job. There can be around twenty individual steps involved in dismantling a grand piano, and these need to be carried out in the correct order. The piano must then be carefully protected, transported and professionally reassembled at its new home.

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME, CENTRALNEST🎉

We are delighted to congratulate CentralNest on becoming the latest Affiliate Member of Move Assured.

CentralNest is an innovative UK based company providing artificial intelligence powered quoting and inventory software specifically designed for removal companies.

Their technology allows customers to record a simple video walkthrough of their home, which is then analysed to identify furniture, boxes and fragile items, calculate cubic volume and create an accurate inventory. Removal companies can then produce branded quotations quickly, while also identifying potential access issues such as narrow doorways, stairs, lifts and parking restrictions before moving day.

Founded in 2024 by Victoria Papathanasiou and George Makrydakis, CentralNest is already supporting removal companies ranging from independent operators to national fleets, as well as military relocation specialists.

You can never know too much, every day is an opportunity to learn something new.

We are pleased to offer two practical, hands-on training courses at our Thetford Training Centre, designed to build knowledge, practical skills and a strong understanding of best practice within the removals industry.

Domestic Packing – Monday 13th October
Learn best packing practices and the correct use of packing materials, followed by hands-on practical training. £185 + VAT per person, with 6 places available.

Vehicle Loading – Tuesday 14th October
This one-day course covers Manual Handling in the morning, followed by an afternoon session focused on safe vehicle loading, including volume restrictions, overall vehicle weight and individual axle weights.
The course will conclude with practical, hands-on group training.
Cost: £185 + VAT per person
Places: Limited to just 6 participants
Please note: The practical element of the course is dependent on a member vehicle being available for use. If a suitable vehicle is not available, the course content may need to be amended.

Both courses start at approximately 8.45–9.00am and take place at Move Assured Training Centre, 32 Howlett Way, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 1HZ. Every attendee will receive a digital certificate on successful completion.

Places are limited, and a minimum of two paid bookings is required for each course to go ahead. Early booking is recommended.
