π Cricket Club Update π
Our Thursday cricket club has been a real success, supported by a fantastic partnership with Chiswick Cricket Club.
We are extremely grateful to Rob Fernandes and the club for leading sessions and providing access to their brand-new nets, giving students a real taste of the club game.
This term, the focus moves to fixtures for Years 7 and 8, alongside inter-house matches β an exciting period ahead! ππͺ

During the Spring term, a group of Chiswick School dancers were invited to the prestigious Italia Conti Theatre School for a day of workshops and performances.
Students took part in sessions across contemporary, commercial, and dance technique, developing their skills and confidence throughout the day.
They also joined a Q&A with BA Musical Theatre students and staff, gaining valuable insight into drama school entry requirements and future pathways in the performing arts

Key Stage 3 students took part in the inaugural Chiswick School History Essay Competition, researching and writing about the most significant event in British history.
Essays were judged by James Wisdom (Chairman of the Chiswick & Brentford Local History Society) and Mr Orr, Deputy Headteacher.

Last month, we supported Mental Health Awareness Week, with this yearβs theme Action focusing on taking positive steps to support wellbeing and reduce stigma.
Students took part in discussions around mental health, self-care, resilience and seeking support, alongside ongoing work through PSHE, form time and pastoral support.
We continue to offer GROW therapy and HYCS counselling for additional support, alongside resources for families via FACE Parent Live Talks.

Chiswick School entered the National Youth Monologues competition for the first time this year, with 15 student performances submitted.
All 15 students were shortlisted for the regional finals, with five also receiving Judgesβ Commendations β an outstanding achievement in a national competition with over 6,000 entries.
Our Performing Arts department has also been nominated as a regional finalist, placing us alongside only a handful of schools and professional theatre institutions across London.
A fantastic celebration of talent, with results for the national finals still to come in June π

Our Sports Leaders delivered a fantastic primary sports day, organising events, supporting younger pupils, and demonstrating excellent leadership throughout.
Visiting pupils had a brilliant experience, while our students gained valuable confidence and leadership skills by taking charge of activities.
A huge thank you to all involved for their energy and commitment with more events still to come, the Sports Leaders programme continues to go from strength to strength πͺβ½

Last half term, students celebrated the end of their programme at Magdalen College, Oxford, reflecting on their learning about the impact of American music on culture and protest movements.
The visit included a tour of the college, inspiring several students to explore Oxfordβs entry requirements for the future.
Students also took time to reflect on their studies, with powerful insights into how music has amplified voices and shaped understanding of social issues and lived experiences.

Our latest edition of the Chiswick News is now live!
It has been another exciting and inspiring term across the school, with students taking part in a huge range of opportunities including trips, competitions, workshops, concerts, sporting events and enrichment activities.
From exploring the Houses of Parliament and coastal management in Brighton, to success in the Dragonsβ Den competition and celebrating World Cricket Day, our students continue to show curiosity, creativity and ambition both inside and outside the classroom.
We are also proud of the many inspiring experiences our students have enjoyed through guest speakers, university and apprenticeship events, community visits and confidence-building programmes.
