Today was Maria Montessori's birthday, and so, we spare a thought and immense gratitude to the lady who did so much to create a peaceful world and progress in humanity, both during and outside of her life.

We are committed to continuing her legacy guiding children to their true and full potential and training anyone who has an interest or feels touched in any way by her teachings and wisdom.

These are photos of our Upper Elementary aged children (9-12 years) at both our Bayswater and Hampstead school sites, learning about the human heart. As always with authentic Montessori education, the teaching and learning of this topic, was done through practical and tangible as well as intellectual ways:

- Reading a biology book and specifically the section on the human heart
- Drawing the human heart diagram by looking at it in the book
- Creating a human heart model with different materials including gauze
- Looking at a human body model, taking it's different organs out and examining how each part fits into the body and where they are all placed
- and finally, our Bayswater Elementary Teacher, Pablo, got the children to do star jumps outside to get their hearts pumping and to feel their heart beats and the effect that exercise has on our heart.

Learning in a cross-disciplinary way (in this case: biology, art, PE) is essential in Montessori education and helps children consolidate abstract concepts in a concrete way.

One of the biggest challenges facing parents today is supporting their children’s emotional resilience. This course is especially designed for parents of children aged under six and will include both theory and practical strategies to support children’s well-being, resilience and behavioural responses.

The obstacles to children’s development are rapidly changing all the time, and this course will enable parents to use Montessori approaches to support their children as well as findings from the latest research in this area.

This course will be delivered via 4 Online sessions held live online from 10am - 12pm UK time on the following Wednesdays: 30th September, 7th, 14th and 21st October.

This free of charge programme will provide parents and professionals with practical parenting strategies and advice on the home environment.

The young child is capable of independent activity right from the start. To nurture and to encourage this allows for the fullest expression of their potential – a true aid to life.

Knowing the how and the why will help us as parents and carers to recognise and so cultivate this natural tendency for independence from the very beginning. This will give us the tools to foster a truly collaborative relationship with the child in our care. Knowledge of child development will be covered as it will illuminate important considerations when we perform the daily activities, such as dressing, eating, toileting and sleeping; important rituals that given time, will grant us simple ways to adopt Montessori principles in the home.

This course will be held IN PERSON at our Montessori Training Centre in London, over 4 evenings in September 2026.

We hope you'll be able to grasp, through these student testimonials, the true value of becoming a Montessori Teacher for 3 to 6 year olds by studying our AMI 3-6 Diploma. As many of our students say, the course gives you a whole new understanding of the child, how to observe children correctly, how not to interfere, how to guide them to become better and more fulfilled children and eventually better adults that will contribute to making the world a better place. Teachers hold so much power and it is incredibly rewarding to see the child develop fully when given the right conditions to do so.

And, as our students also say, the course isn't just about understanding and guiding children better but also about understanding ourselves and our own childhoods, life journey and development.

Our Training Centre is located in the heart of central London but tucked away on a quiet street which makes it an ideal place to study and as well as to enjoy London. If you live in London or the UK, we'd highly recommend booking a visit so that you can get a feel of what it will be like to study with us, walk around our training centre, see our practice and lecture rooms and meet our trainers. Alternatively, or if you live abroad, we'd recommend booking a call with our course advisors who will be able to talk to you further about our Diploma.

Montessori education is a 360 degree approach to teaching and learning. As a or when applying Montessori to your own parenting or line of work, you will experience the joy and spark in the children's eyes as you teach them abstract concepts through concrete, hands-on materials and real life experiences that will make learning a whole lot more meaningful to them and a whole lot more rewarding to you.

If you are thinking of studying our AMI 3-6 Diploma, we've got something that will be useful to you. We're holding our last Online Course Q&A this Thursday 23rd July at 2.30pm (UK time). Join us to ask any questions you have and to hear about our course content and application process. If you've got questions about any of our other courses, you can ask them here too.
