Did you know Mottingham Hall for Children has its own small on site farm?
We are very lucky to have some animals on site including chickens, guinea pigs a rabbit and some chickens.
Taking care of farm animals can have a significant positive impact on children’s learning. It teaches them responsibility, empathy, and practical life skills. Additionally, it can enhance their understanding of biology, ecosystems, and the food cycle.

Yesterday, our nursery was transformed into a magical world as we celebrated World Book Day.
It was a delightful day filled with amazement as we ventured into the realm of fairy tales.
Many of our children took part in retelling stories and building houses for the Three Little Pigs.

Yesterday our Pre Schoolers enjoyed Kidding Around Yoga
The session was led by Alison and Mel.
Through yoga, meditation, and mindfulness, children learn to regulate, focus and connect. They are taught tools and concepts that will make it easier to thrive despite the chaos of day to day life.
How is this taught?
Through games, songs, stories, crafts and more, children can be taught:
Breathing instruction
To balance their energy and tap into the relaxation response.
Meditation practice
To explore rest for the brain and awareness of thoughts to initiate a lifelong practice in peace and power.
Movement exploration
Through traditional yoga postures and imaginative movement to build a strong and flexible body, grow in confidence, and self-soothe.
Deep Relaxation
That gives access to quiet centred space for their mind to rest, allowing calming and healing to begin.

Ho ho ho! What a marvellous time we had last week with a most delightful visit from a special guest! Father Christmas himself dropped by our lovely yurt, just as he was preparing for the bustling adventure of his Christmas journey! The little ones were absolutely bubbling with excitement, sharing their heartfelt wishes from their lists with jolly old Saint Nick. I must say, there were quite a few curious little minds wondering where I had parked my trusty sleigh, pulled by my merry band of reindeer! From all of us in the North Pole, we wish all our dear families a truly magical Christmas filled with joy and wonder! Merry Christmas to all! 🌟🎅🎄

Our Oak children have been busy preparing Salad again today. They used their fine motor skills to cut with the knife. We spoke about healthy eating, textures, smells and best of all the taste!

At Mottingham Hall for Children, we believe that helping children to develop a love for reading is essential! A few weeks ago, our Oak class engaged with the book "Owl Babies." Through this story, a wealth of learning opportunities emerged. The children crafted their own owls using clay and built nests for them to rest in. They discussed owls extensively and acquired a range of new vocabulary, including the term "nocturnal."

Last month, we had a wonderful time at our Halloween event for our families. The day was filled with spooktacular activities, including potion-making in our mud kitchen, scavenger hunts, wand making, and hammering pumpkins. We even had a visit from our Goats Spidey and Sonic as well as our Guinea pig. To top it all off, we enjoyed some delicious pumpkin soup by the fire.

At Mottingham Hall for children, we have our own on-site allotment. Take a look at all the delicious produce left for our families to take home last week! Our allotment helps the children to observe changes over time. When the children have been involved in planting and caring for the vegetables, they are more likely to want to try them, promoting healthy eating.
