Student Leadership Conference - “How The Expressive Arts Shape Strong Leaders”!
We were so thrilled to be asked to deliver leadership through art workshops at the Student Leadership Conference this January at the brilliant .
In our 90-minute sessions, students explored how the skills learnt in the expressive arts translate into good leadership qualities.
Then using our film CHOKED 2.0 as a stimulus they tested their leadership skills in a creative context—working together through movement, discussion, and devised choreography to explore the intersection of science and art and then delivering a concise and persuasive pitch to the rest of the group based on what they had created.
This experience encouraged the young leaders to think critically about how art can influence change, spark dialogue and deepen understanding of urgent environmental issues.
Our hope was that by collaborating creatively, students develop empathy, communication and the confidence to use their voices and artistry, to shape a more responsible and environmentally aware future.
Thank you so much to Andrew Chessell and Paula Tombs for having us on board and what an excellent programme you delivered.
