Excitement is building as young carers from our inspired:arts programme put the final touches on their performance for Chelsea Arts Festival THIS SATURDAY! 🎭

They will be taking the stage as part of the festival's free outdoor entertainment programme. If you are in London this weekend, come along to celebrate their incredible talent - you can catch them performing live in the streets and public squares along the King’s Road and around Sloane Square.

We are incredibly proud to be the official Charity Partner of the Chelsea Arts Festival this year. Beyond the performances, you will spot our team and signage throughout the festival grounds.

If you would like to support our mission, please look out for our QR codes across the event site. Every donation helps us continue providing life-changing opportunities for young carers and other marginalised groups in our communities.

Next week, Create is joining Chelsea Arts Festival as its official charity partner, with two opportunities to experience our work and celebrate the power of creativity. 🎨🎶

On Friday 18 September, our Founding Chief Executive Nicky Goulder MBE will introduce a conversation between Professor Daisy Fancourt and Emma Gannon at the Saatchi Gallery, exploring the transformative power of creativity and the arts.

Then, on Saturday 19 September, young carers from our inspired:arts programme will give three live music performances as part of the festival’s free outdoor entertainment - sharing their creativity with audiences in the heart of Chelsea.

We’re delighted to be part of a festival that shares our belief in the importance of creativity and look forward to a brilliant weekend.

We’re finalists! 🎉

Create has been named a finalist for the Disability Impact Award at the National Charity Today Awards™ 2026.

The award celebrates organisations and projects empowering disabled people and promoting accessibility, independence and inclusion - something at the heart of our work.

In 2025/26, we delivered 280 inclusive creative arts workshops with 555 disabled children, young people and adults through creative:connection, environment:matters, our:stories and creative:tandem.

Across these programmes, participants have created original music, exhibited artwork, developed new skills and shared their creativity with wider audiences.

We believe everyone should have opportunities to create, express themselves and have their talents recognised. We’re incredibly proud to see this work celebrated nationally.

A huge thank you to our participants, professional artists, partners, funders and everyone who makes these projects possible.

The London Graphic Centre x Theo Paphitis Art Prize supports the UK artist community with free entry and generous prizes and support for the inspiring winners.

📖 This , we’re celebrating our:stories, our programme supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities to experience the joy of stories and storytelling.

🌈 Some of the children we work with aren't able to read independently. Through our:stories, our professional artists use artforms including music, dance, drama and visual art to bring books to life, creating different ways for children to explore characters, ideas and narratives.

✨ During a recent project in Westminster, a teacher saw the children’s engagement develop as the weeks progressed. By the end, students were turning the pages themselves and recognising characters and details from the story!

🎉 Literacy and storytelling don't have to look the same for everyone. By finding creative and accessible ways into stories, we can enable more children to engage, imagine and participate.

This project is funded with the support of The St Paul's Schools Foundation [via The Mercers' Company].

What can creativity offer inside a prison? 🎨

For Sarah* and Joanna*, taking part in our Free Inside programme meant trying unfamiliar artforms, developing new skills and discovering what could happen when they stepped outside their comfort zones.

Through photography and printmaking projects in two women’s prisons, both participants found their confidence growing as they experimented creatively and worked alongside others.

As Sarah reflected:

“It’s important to be creative to unlock more of yourself.”

“I wanted to write a book for my children so they could understand the difficulties that I’m going through and what they’re going through too.”

For Graham*, one of the hardest parts of being in prison is being separated from his children.

📖 Last year, he took part in Create’s My Parent’s in Prison project, working alongside other prisoners and our professional artists to write and illustrate a children’s book.

Through storytelling, the group explored experiences that can be difficult to put into words: separation, family relationships and the hope of returning home.

🎨 For Graham, the creative process wasn’t always easy. But as the project developed, so did his confidence in expressing how he felt.

“It became easier to come up with your expressions and how you feel.”

🌈 Earlier this month, participants on creative:explorers created a beautiful mural, brightening the entry-way to their centre.

🌟 creative:explorers is our multi-artform project with disabled young adults in Brent. Across three days, participants worked together to design and paint their very own mural. Projects like this provide a vital space for self-expression, collaboration and joy. By creating a shared goal, participants can come together, share ideas and form friendships with one another.

Research commissioned by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport found that the health benefits associated with arts engagement in the UK are worth an estimated £18.6 billion each year.

From supporting wellbeing to reducing pressures on health services, the evidence increasingly demonstrates the wider value of making the arts part of our lives.

Yet access to creativity isn’t equal. At Create, we work with children and adults who face barriers to taking part, providing free opportunities to create, connect, express themselves and develop new skills.

The arts aren’t simply a nice-to-have. People Need To Create. 🎨

💙 Artist Laxmi Hussain has joined the multi-award-winning creative arts charity Create as one of its Patrons. Create’s Patrons have a passion for creativity and its power to enhance lives, and lend their voice to support the charity in a variety of ways.

🌎 Laxmi Hussain is a London-based artist whose art blends elegance and precision, drawing inspiration from the human form, motherhood, and nature's ever-changing beauty. Her intricately composed works transcend traditional boundaries, inviting viewers to engage with her art through deliberately incomplete elements. Blue, an ever-present hue in Laxmi's palette, carries a deeply personal resonance. It stands as a tribute to her mother and mirrors her poignant journey of self-discovery and creative exploration.

🔵 In her role as Patron, Laxmi will be supporting Create’s mission of empowering lives, reducing isolation and enhancing wellbeing through the creative arts.
