Interim Re-engagement Programmes for Students out of Education - Nationwide

07/08/2026

📣 For the first time, parents and carers can now refer directly to Fresh Start in Education.

We know how difficult it can be when a child or young person is struggling to access education, and how frustrating it can feel when you are unsure where to turn next.

Our personalised, one-to-one education and support can help young people who are experiencing barriers to learning, including anxiety, SEND, SEMH needs, school avoidance or exclusion. Every provision is built around the individual, helping them to rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning and begin looking towards the future with hope.

Until now, our referrals have primarily come through local authorities and other professional partners. Our new direct referral route means parents and carers can now approach us themselves to discuss privately funded support for their child.

If your child needs a different approach to education, our team is here to listen and talk through the options with you.

What if the key to inclusion is understanding human nature?

Children are wired for movement, connection and safety, but many school environments demand the opposite.

In our latest blog, guest writer Emma Jones explores why rethinking school environments could transform learning, wellbeing and inclusion for every child.

BRAND NEW AP Roadshow - Episode 2 Featuring Fresh Start in Education 24/06/2026

We're delighted to share Episode 2 of the AP Roadshow and we're incredibly proud to be featured!

It was a real privilege to take part and shine a light on the vital role Alternative Provision plays in supporting young people. The highlight, however, was hearing directly from one of our amazing students and her mum, who shared their journey and the life-changing impact AP has had on their lives.

Their story is a powerful reminder of why this work matters and the difference that the right support, at the right time, can make.

We can't wait for you to watch it!

Alternative Provision is often misunderstood. Too many people still associate AP with exclusion or failure, when in reality it is some of the most skilled, relationship-focused work happening in education today.
Behind every successful AP setting are professionals helping young people rebuild trust, confidence, emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning.
It's time to move beyond outdated assumptions and recognise the expertise, care and impact that Alternative Provision delivers every day. Read our latest blog by guest writer Gemma Harvey from We Are Louise.

We're delighted to have been shortlisted for Alterna Prestige awards!

To be recognised alongside so many dedicated individuals and organisations across the Alternative Provision sector is a real privilege.

At Fresh Start in Education, everything we do is driven by a simple belief: every child and young person deserves access to education, regardless of their circumstances. This nomination reflects the commitment, passion and expertise of our incredible team and the Local Authorities, schools and families we work alongside every day.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate us and congratulations to all those who have made it through to the Judges' Round. We look forward to celebrating the outstanding work taking place across the sector on 3rd July.

94%. Across more than 3,000 students.

That's our successful outcomes rate in alternative provision, a sector where outcomes are notoriously hard to measure, let alone achieve at scale.

We don't treat this as a headline number. We treat it as the standard we have to keep meeting, student by student, placement by placement.

Behind it sits the work that rarely gets posted about: the safeguarding calls, matching education specialists to students, the meetings with local authorities and schools, the small adjustments that keep a young person engaged when school hasn't worked for them.

Consistency at this volume isn't luck. It's process, the right people and partnerships with local authorities who trust us to deliver when timelines are tight and stakes are high.

To every client, staff member and parent/carer who's been part of those 3000+ journeys, thank you for trusting us with the work that matters.
