Another successful Arts Award story that I would love to share is that of Leah; a young, budding tennis player who combined her passion of Sport and of Graphic Design to design and create her own brand of clothing. Leah conquered lockdown developing her ideas and pursing her interests in the creative field of Graphic Design, achieving a Silver Arts Award.
Here she is, sporting one of her pieces of clothing, proudly displaying her Logo.

Arts Award are calling for centres to share Arts Award stories as part of to support the creative development of young people. London's A New Direction supports Trinity College in this. Let me share with you one of the two successful stories that I have led, and been a part of, last year.
Samuel has spent his days in lockdown developing and refining his woodturning skills to achieve a Silver Award. Samuel has not let the completion of his Award cease his creativity, and continues to further his practice with more unique pieces being made and sold. (Check out on Instagram to view his work)
Take a look at the bespoke wooden chess-set piece designed and made in his Arts Award Journey below.

As schools return, and practical lessons start up again, we may be wondering how our students' creative activities will be able to continue with Covid-19 restrictions.
Let me share with you a creative journey that a pupil of mine has undertaken over the lockdown and the Summer months. He is halfway to completing an Arts Award level Silver, having designed and created a chess-piece set and board using his wood-turning skills.
He won't mind me saying that he'd love you to keep in on checking his website to see the final piece!

We are at a time when we should be more careful with planning our meals and using up everything we have in the cupboards.
This artist took it to the next level by documenting his meals for 32 years, commenting on the ingredients and the taste of each meal he ate.
I took inspiration and documented a stew that went a long way, which we had for the start of the lockdown!
Japanese Chef Has Filled Notebooks with Delectable Illustrations of All of His Meals for 32 Years
Some meals leave an impression—you might remember the cherry pie your grandma always made or a multi-course dinner consisting of toast and caviar, a mound of shaved truffle topping pasta, and wagyu tartare. Rather than solely rely on his memory to envision the fare he's enjoyed, though, Japanese c...

When laid low in his sick bed, Matisse continued to create. It was in his bed that the famous 'cut-outs' were made.
We may be laid low, isolating at home, but I encourage you to create with what's around you ;)
Here's my creation today:
The window that I sit by often, throws shadows across the room all day. Loo roll is precious, the holders too, so I captured the shadows by tracing them as the sun moved.
What can you create with what's around you?
Reply with a photo of your creation.
I hope this idea inspires you to make!
