My absolute favourite museum in Australia so far! Perfect size, amazing curation (I mean who dares to put wallpaper in the paintings gallery 😍😍) and such clever use of their space introducing art from the new comers to this country with art from indigenous people - bringing all the magic of creation together!

A somewhat odd collection of art with a strong connection to England, the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra was made for a perfect Spring morning of cycling past the lake, seeing the trees come to life in the sculpture garden, and admiring the magnificent Arthur Boyd exhibition.
The Australian artist’s works translate incredibly well into tapestries- beautifully made by Portuguese weavers. The exhibition is on until 18 Oct 2026 and really worth a visit.

Get yourself on a train to Albury, and visit MAMA- home of Australia’s longest running acquisitive photographic award. Beautifully curated, with a fun hang, it is just the right dose of multifaceted Australia before ending the day with a peaceful walk past the Murray river. The Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk in West Albury is a flat, 5-kilometre paved trail along the Murray River featuring contemporary sculptures by local Aboriginal artists.

I am a city girl. I love the grittyness of it, the density of things to do, the different nationalities, the contrasts, the many sounds and colours… and Melbourne has heaps of it. The beautiful Botanical Gardens, the young Fitzroy, the hip lunch spots, the surprising Ian Potter centre with Australian artists, and the fun trams taking you across town!

It’s been great working with the Foundling Museum on their lectures, and I am especially looking forward to this one ❤️. The talk offers a wide-ranging exploration of motherhood, vulnerability and the changing visual language of childbirth in Renaissance art.

Jet lagged but thankful to have been invited for this incredible lecturing circuit by visiting 11 places, delivering 14 lectures plus 1 special interest day, covering 5 different states and a lot, A LOT of miles!
Although rather jet lagged Sydney was so lovely with it mild weather, flowers in the wild that are only available in flower shops in Europe, birds in the wild which are kept in cages in Europe, and an endless shoreline with the most beautiful beaches which would have packed back home!
May the adventure begin!

Oh and thank you for being a friendly face with some great tips on local hot spots upon arrival!
