International Academy for Professional Development Ltd Est. in 2010. Aim: To promote the cognitive behavioural and solution focused approach. Our first Centre, the Centre for Stress Management was established in 1987.

The International Academy for Professional Development Ltd and affiliated Centres provide a range of professional body recognised, accredited and approved programmes. The International Academy for Professional Development Ltd was established in 2010 to bring together recognised and accredited centres and faculties of expertise that provide professional development courses and programmes to professionals around the world. The Centres of Expertise group of Centres are based in London, England, and provide a range of training and consultancy services. The Centre for Coaching was established in 2001. We have delivered our accredited and recognised training programmes in Europe, China, Japan and New Zealand. We have affiliated Centres in Sweden and New Zealand where we can provide a range of our accredited programmes. In addition to the International academy's website which brings our programmes together, each Centre of Expertise has its own website. The courses run by the Centre for Stress Management, Centre for Coaching and International Academy for Professional Development are recognised for CPD purposes by the International Society for Coaching Psychology and the British Psychological Society Learning Centre. The Centre is a International Society for Coaching Psychology (ISCP) Approved CPD Provider. Our courses professional body recognised courses at Primary Certificate, Certificate and Diploma levels at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The different Centres of Expertise and Faculties focus on a range of programmes depending upon their remit. For example, coaching and coaching psychology; stress management and prevention; accountancy, business and management; health and wellbeing; health and safety; evidence based counselling and psychotherapy including cognitive behaviour and rational emotive behavioural therapies. Courses range from 1-day up to 18 months part-time. Our Centres in association with the International Academy for Professional Development Ltd run Institute of Leadership (IoL) Approved Development Programmmes. We also run our courses in-house for organisations and companies around the world. The IoL Advanced Coaching Development Programme is over 100 hours in length. Our IoL Advanced Development Awards qualify successful candidates for Associate Membership of the IoL. Those with higher level training may also apply for full Membership of the IoL. Certificates of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) are issued to delegates who attend 90% of a development programme. Our IoL course brochure provides course full details of the development courses. Introduction to International Relaxation Day & the Conference, held on 15th August, 2025

Coming soon is International Relaxation Day (IRD) and our free virtual IRD Conference, 2025. We will have presentations from relaxation and stress experts, academics, researchers and practitioners from around the world sharing with us their knowledge about relaxation and mindfulness methods and techniques.

The conference may interest members of the public, HR, health professionals, psychologists, counsellors, coaches, managers and academics who may wish to learn more about relaxation techniques and their benefits to enhancing health and wellbeing, and reducing stress and anxiety.

The introductory video includes 9 minutes of information about IRD and the IRD conference and then at the end, a 10 minute recording of birds singing at dusk in west Kent, England, UK.

Conference Recognition

The conference is recognised by the Association for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and the International Society for Coaching Psychology for continuing professional development (CPD). Both organisations support International Relaxation Day.

CONTENT

This REBT course is Approved through the British Psychological Society CPD Quality Mark Scheme for the purposes of continuing professional development and approved by the International Society for Coaching Psychology. It is an Association for Rational Emotive Therapy (AREBT) approved 2-day programme and covers the basic theory and practice of the rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT) and counselling which was developed by Dr Albert Ellis PhD.

It includes the following: basic concepts; healthy and unhealthy negative emotions; psychological interactionism; agenda setting, three major MUSTS and the derivatives; the ABC model; treatment sequence; assessing A and inference chaining; teaching the B-C connection; disputing irrational beliefs; self-acceptance; importance of homework assignments; multimodal emphasis; shame attacking exercises; low frustration tolerance exercises. A manual, articles and handouts are provided.
