Auf weidersehen, Vien!

We said goodbye to Vienna this morning as we hit the road for Salzburg and Munich. In Austria’s historic capital, we saw the Summer Palace, explored iconic St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and waltzed our way to a wonderful visit. We’ve tasted beef goulash and Wiener Schnitzel, we’ve learned a few German phrases, and we’ve fallen straight asleep after two packed days. We’re excited to begin the next leg of our adventure!

Day 6 (Sunday): We set out to the Notre Dame in the morning and had the opportunity to walk through during mass. We then split into two groups; one group walked to a nearby district to do some shopping while the other headed to the Impressionist museum. We traveled to Montmartre, the highest hill in Paris, and enjoyed one last taste of local flavor downtown. We then boarded our plane, and 90 minutes later, we found ourselves in Italy. We’re up and ready to explore Firenze!

Ciao!

Day 4 (Saturday): Today, we saw the highlights of Paris. We began at the Notre Dame, where we boarded our bus tour of the city, which took us through historic Paris districts and eventually to the Palace of Versailles. We enjoyed wonderful views of the Eiffel Tower from the esplanade, had savory and sweet crepes at a downtown creperie, climbed to the 59th floor of a nearby tower for breathtaking views of the city, and ended our day with a river cruise down the Seine.

France has treated us well—bonne nuit!

Day 3 (Friday):

We got a little bit of a (much needed) later start. Some of us headed to East London to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre on the banks of the Thames, while the rest of the group checked out the exhibits at the impressive British Museum. After a quick lunch, we boarded a train at King's Cross and zoomed to Paris at nearly 200mph. We enjoyed dinner downtown before ending our day at the Louvre.

"Oui" are all settled in and ready to catch some sleep before our big Paris adventure tomorrow (preview: Notre Dame, bus tour, Versailles, and river cruise)!
