Peek-a-boo is so much more than a game at nursery. 🤍
Through playful interactions with their teachers, our little learners are building trust, developing communication skills and learning about turn taking and anticipation. As the children giggle, hide and reappear, they are also beginning to understand object permanence — learning that people and objects still exist even when out of sight.
These simple moments of connection help support emotional security, social development and early language skills, all whilst creating lots of smiles and laughter along the way. ✨

Woodland mark making 🍃
Our Big Learners have been busy in the woodland classroom, using sticks to mark make on the ground. As part of our mini beast theme, we focused on the spiral shape of a snail’s shell—practising drawing circles, going round and round.
The children explored the different textures beneath them while building control and coordination through large, purposeful movements. A simple activity that supports early writing skills, creativity, and a deeper connection to the natural world.

Imaginative play in action 🚲🧸
Our Big Learners had a wonderful time engaging in imaginative play with friends, taking their teddies on a bike ride to the shops. With creativity leading the way, the children created stories, assigned roles, and worked together to bring their ideas to life.
This type of play supports communication, social skills, cooperation, and emotional development, while also encouraging problem solving and early language use.
A simple moment filled with rich learning, teamwork, and big imagination.

Carefully curated play provocations ✨
In our Little Learners environment, we have been exploring a range of thoughtfully planned play invitations designed to spark curiosity and deepen learning.
Through texture-rich messy play, the children have been engaging their senses while strengthening fine motor skills and coordination. Using their hands and tools to explore different materials, they are developing problem solving skills as they investigate, test, and experiment.
Alongside this, we are seeing beautiful moments of parallel play—children playing alongside one another, observing, sharing space, and beginning to build early social awareness.
A rich learning experience where exploration, discovery, and early mark making skills come together through play.

Woodland collectors at work 🌿🍁
Our Big Learners spent time in the woodland classroom gathering natural materials for their upcoming art project. Leaves, twigs, seeds, and textures were carefully collected, encouraging observation, decision-making, and appreciation of the natural world.
This hands-on experience supported communication as the children described what they found, alongside developing fine motor skills and early creativity through exploration.
We can’t wait to see how these natural treasures are transformed in our next creative session!

A little book. A big world. 📖✨
From first page to final picture, these calm moments spark imagination, build language, and nurture a lifelong love of reading.
At Little Learners, we treasure quiet story times — where confidence grows, curiosity deepens, and children learn at their own pace in a warm, supportive space.
