Here is an example of why it’s important to get familiar with expressions as their literal meaning often won’t make sense 😂! To feel “under the weather” means to feel unwell (i.e. ill), to be “in your feelings” means to be emotional, and to be “on top of things” refers to being in control.

A homonym is a word that has more than one meaning.

Here are two examples: ‘band’ can be a musical group or an elastic; and ‘kind’ can be a noun, used to mean ‘which type’, and it can also be an adjective, used to describe someone’s character ☺️

It’s good to be aware of homonyms to avoid confusion !
