REFLEXOLOGY ACADEMY ~ "Providing the highest standard of professional training and continuous development in the field of Reflexology"

Reflexology is generally known as a relaxation therapy as it produces a state of deep relaxation and invigoration. However not all reflexology is the same, and there are many vast differences amongst practitioners and reflexology schools alike. Generally described as a relaxation therapy alone it's potential is not fully recognised. With the combination of the refined and adapted techniques of th

“As the vagus nerve is recognized as a key component in the maintenance of body health, the ear, traditionally regarded as the organ responsible for hearing and balance, is now also understood as a key interface to the bodily homeostatic systems, providing a direct access point to vagal pathways connected to the brainstem.”

What if treating chronic disease started at the ear?

Researchers are exploring how stimulating the vagus nerve through the ear could help manage blood pressure, Long COVID symptoms, and even cognition.

Orthopedic Reflexology
 26-28 June in London

‍Reflexology Academy is delighted to be hosting Greece’s leading     reflexologist Spiros Dimitrakoulas, to teach his inspiring and unique Orthopedic Reflexology course this summer.

This training can serve as a stand alone therapy or be effectively intergrated into your existing reflexology or massage practice .
‍During this three-day instructive course, participants  will be taught the anatomy of the feet, which will include:

• The four muscle layers
• Connective tissue, e.g. plantar fascia and retinaculum
• The location of the bones of the feet
• The route of the tendons and peripheral nerves entering the feet

Participants will be taught how to effectively treat all these structures, make correlations within their existing knowledge, and integrate the new techniques into their current practice.‍Rooted in Ancient Tradition

The basis of the training is learning the theoretical and practical approaches of Hippocrates and Galen on the effects of “rubbing” – Anatripsis – as handed down in their original texts.

Hippocrates describes in detail four main “veins” that are considered the forefathers of the Chinese meridians. These Hippocratic veins will be outlined theoretically in detail, and approached practically up to the knee and elbow, respectively.

Upon completion of training in Orthopedic Reflexology, participants will have the capacity to alleviate—complementary to standard care—local foot problems such as hallux valgus and hammer toes, which in turn reflexively affect and help treat disorders found in other parts of the body.

There are many structures in our feet, and each one requires a unique technique.

CSF: IDENTIFICATION OF A NOVEL PATH FOR CEREBROSPINAL FLUID (CSF) DRAINAGE OF THE HUMAN BRAIN

"The current and accepted model of CSF drainage in humans suggests CSF drains from the subarachnoid space into the sagittal sinus vein. Here we identify a new structure in the sagittal sinus of the human brain by anatomic cadaver dissection. The CSF canalicular system is a series of channels on either side of the sagittal sinus vein that communicate with subarachnoid cerebrospinal fluid via Virchow-Robin spaces."

"We verify our previous identification of CSF channels in the neck that travel from the cranial base to the subclavian vein. Together, this information suggests a novel path for CSF drainage of the human brain that may represent the primary route for CSF recirculation."

- Pessa JE

CSF (yellow) drains from the subarachnoid space through arachnoid granulations into the sagittal sinus vein (blue). Sagittal sinus venous blood exits the cranium through the jugular foramen to enter the internal jugular vein.
