Not jumping in with the clever reframe.
Not needing to name every insight.
Not rushing to close the session with a perfect takeaway.

Restraint isnโ€™t passive. Itโ€™s powerful.
It lets the clientโ€™s voice take the lead.

As July comes to a close, Iโ€™m asking:
What have I not said this month that created more space for my clients?

What about you? When has holding back been the boldest move in your coaching?

One powerful theme emerged in our recent Coach Cafรฉ circle:

Coaches often do both, but when we lean too much into โ€˜responding,โ€™ we start leading instead of following.

What helps you stay in the witness seat?

How do you meet those moments when they arise?

"Do coaches need therapy?"

This one comes from my self-reflection from our Sacred Cows episodes.

In our episodes, we referred to the coaches' development in terms of owning their identity and being resourceful for both their clients and themselves multiple times.

What's your stance: Should therapy be part of a coach's training journey?

1. They slow down, not rush to wrap up.
2. They focus on what the client is learning about themselves, not just what they are going to do.
3. They name shifts theyโ€™ve witnessed.

The closing of a session is sacred ground.

Whatโ€™s one thing you do with intention at the end of a coaching conversation?

Whatโ€™s it really like to host a coaching podcast?

Between tech glitches, scheduling chaos, and big questions, I've learned a great deal!

Here are 5 unexpected lessons Iโ€™ve learned as a podcast co-host:

1. Vulnerability always resonates.
2. Simpler questions lead to richer answers.
3. Not everything has to be heavy.
4. It's okay not to feel "fully prepared"; trust in the process.
5. Editing yourself is an act of self-coaching ๐Ÿซฃ

Have you ever wanted to start your own coaching podcast?

And no, I'm not going to teach anything about it, I'm just asking out of curiosity ๐Ÿ˜†

โ€œHold the agenda lightly.โ€
โ€œTrust the emergence.โ€
โ€œBe in the not-knowing.โ€
โ€œCo-create the field.โ€

Sounds spiritual and wise.
Feels confusing.
Means what, exactly?

Sometimes I read coaching posts and think: Would any actual client understand this?

Sometimes I donโ€™t even understand it, and I train coaches.

Language should open doors, not create echo chambers.

We say we want coaching to be more accessible, but then wrap it in words only coaches understand.

Whatโ€™s one coaching phrase youโ€™ve usedโ€ฆ and then cringed at later?

Letโ€™s name the fluff.

(...and yes, I'm a very pragmatic coach who brings a transpersonal approach to coaching - aha! another one "transpersonal")

โ€œWe coach the human, not the problem.โ€

When I heard this for the first time, it shifted something in me.

It's a reminder that our clients bring more than goalsโ€”they bring their stories, fears, identities, and longings.

Good coaching isn't about โ€˜solving problems.โ€™ It's about "seeing".

๐Ÿ’ฌ What does this quote / visual stir up for you?

This comes up in supervision quite often.

Do you stay silent, name it, or gently redirect?
