George Douglas - GCSE personal Tutor

Hi! I'm George and I am a recent Psychology graduate from the University of Leeds, currently undertaking a masters degree in Applied Sport Psychology. I have a background in both Biology and Maths at A-Level, and a great passion and desire to help others achieve their potential and gain top marks in these areas. I am a friendly and personable character, who understands the value of good communication and building a positive rapport to enhance the learning experience.

I have tutored GCSE maths for over a year, creating targeted sessions individually tailored to the student's needs, and saw improvements in not only marks but also confidence in their own ability to tackle problems that may have seemed overwhelming at first. From my own experience of being a student who was always capable, but initially couldn't reach the very top marks, I believe that there are 3 key components that I wish to develop in others: Confidence, exam skills, and underlying knowledge of fundamentals. By focusing on these, I trasformed myself as a student, allowing me to achieve 3 A*s at A-level and also enjoy learning and see the beauty that maths and science have to offer! My passion for maths may have started when I was 15/16 years old, preparing for my GCSEs, but it has since blossomed and taken me very far, even forming a vital part of my psychology degree, using statistical analysis within research. It may not always seem obvious, but maths has far reaching implications, and I can promise you won't regret pushing yourself to become the best mathematician you can be.
