Dear all EEA members

We hope that you are having a good Summer break!

We have been asked to share the following message regarding some excellent kit that may be of use to you and your school or college. If you are interested please use the contact details given below. We hope this is helpful to some of you.

'I have two motorcycles which I am willing to donate to a suitable educational establishment as the basis for an engineering course project. Both bikes are Honda CB200 twins – one is 1976 and the other 1977 registered. The bikes would have to be collected from North Essex.

The 1976 unit has had a nut and bolt rebuild and runs quite well but still requires a final shakedown, road test and MOT. The rebuilding focus was to renew the “service parts” to provide a sound and practical daily runner. Return to factory specifications was not the priority but original parts have been retained allowing the bike to be returned to original specification and finish if preferred. It could be a viable basis for a complete strip down and rebuild or as a rolling restoration.

Over £1000 of parts and materials have been spent on the completed bike to get it into its current condition and it is unlikely that it will need additional significant expenditure.

The second (1977), near identical, bike is dismantled and in boxes and could be used to build another complete bike or as an educational tool allowing sub assemblies to be examined and worked on in detail. All parts need work and one or two parts are missing or damaged. Depending on the project foreseen replacements may have to be sought and/ or parts repaired. Some repairs would need access to appropriate workshop machines.

Further details, including photographs if required, can be obtained from me at [email protected] or on 01440 785417. I intend to leave the offer open until September 2017.'
