As another fantastic Summer School comes to an end, we’d like to say a
huge thank you to all the families who joined us this week. It has
been a pleasure welcoming our future Year 7 students and beginning to
build the strong sense of community that makes Haydon so special.

Our newest students threw themselves into a wide range of creative,
engaging and fun activities, making the most of having the whole
school site to explore. It has been wonderful to see new friendships
forming, growing confidence and so many smiling faces along the way.
We hope everyone leaves feeling excited, settled and ready to hit the
ground running when September arrives.

A special thank you also goes to our incredible student volunteers.
Your enthusiasm, kindness and willingness to help made such a positive
difference throughout the week. You were fantastic role models for our
new students, and we are incredibly grateful for the time and energy
you gave to making Summer School such a success.

Have a fantastic summer break, and we’ll see you all in September. We
can’t wait to welcome our new Year 7s back as part of the Haydon
community!

After a long journey, our students have safely arrived and received a wonderfully warm welcome from their exchange partners. It was fantastic to see new friendships beginning from the very first moments together at school.

Over the coming days, our students will immerse themselves in Korean school life, experience a new culture firsthand and create memories that will stay with them for years to come.

Today, our Sixth Form students set off on what promises to be an unforgettable Cultural Exchange in South Korea.

Over the coming days, they'll experience a new culture, build international friendships, immerse themselves in school life, and create memories that will stay with them for years to come.

Our School Council is made up of students from every year group, giving them the chance to share ideas, raise issues that matter to them and help make Haydon an even better place to learn.

This week, Council members met with our Deputy Headteacher and Director of Finance and Operations to discuss a range of ideas and suggestions from students across the school.

We are proud to give our students a real voice in school life. Their ideas, questions and feedback help shape the decisions we make and remind us that the best schools are built by working together.

A big thank you to all of our School Council representatives for the time, thought and enthusiasm they bring to the role.

Today, we are delighted to welcome our new Sixth Form students for Foundation Day.

This is an exciting milestone as they begin their Post 16 journey, giving them the opportunity to experience life in our Sixth Form. From meeting staff and fellow students to exploring new opportunities and expectations, today is all about building confidence, making connections and preparing for the exciting years ahead.

We are thrilled to welcome such a fantastic group of young people and can't wait to see them grow, achieve and make the most of everything Haydon Sixth Form has to offer. Welcome to the next chapter of your journey!

A huge thank you to everyone at Warrender Primary School for such a warm welcome during our recent visit.

Our Haydon drama students had a fantastic time delivering a drama workshop and working alongside Warrender pupils. We were so impressed by their enthusiasm, excellent attitude to learning and the thoughtful questions they asked throughout the session. They were a credit to their school.

The visit also gave our new Headteacher, Mrs De Jong, the opportunity to meet students and staff, introduce herself, and begin to get to know the community she will soon be serving.

A special thank you to the Warrender staff for being such wonderful hosts. On one of the hottest days of the year, their excellent air-conditioned classrooms provided the perfect environment for everyone to enjoy the day.

We look forward to continuing this fantastic partnership and welcoming many of these pupils to Haydon in the years ahead.

As temperatures rise across the UK, we want to reassure our community that student wellbeing remains our top priority.

Thanks to a £2 million investment in our facilities, 95% of classrooms at Haydon School are air-conditioned, providing a cool and comfortable learning environment even during periods of hot weather.

We are encouraging students to stay hydrated, make use of shaded outdoor areas, and take sensible precautions throughout the day. Our staff continue to monitor conditions closely, and we are pleased to report that the school remains fully operational.

Providing an environment where students can thrive, whatever the weather, is just one of the ways we support our young people every day.
