Our story of the week was The Gruffalo and the children had lots of fun making owl ice cream and Gruffalo crumble.
Pre-school for 3-5 years, serving the families of Eltham since 1971. We are a registered charity. We take children from around their 3rd birthday.
Royal Eltham Pre-school is open five days per week, during term time only. Our morning sessions are from 9.00am-12.00pm and our extended sessions run from 9.00am-3.00pm. We are a non-profit charity run organisation here to serve the families of the local community and as a result there are no extra hidden fees. If your child does not qualify for the government 15 or 30 hour funding our fees are £6

Our recent book of the week was The Runaway Pea. This is a favourite of the children so we decided to feature it this week. We incorporated it in our TastEd session where the children looked at green vegetables which included fresh and frozen peas and leeks; which went down very well 🫛🫛😋

Update on our caterpillar project. All the caterpillars hatched from their chrysalis and were successfully released. It was a great culmination of our life cycles project🦋🦋

Last week we were learning about looking after your teeth. The children looked at how to brush your teeth, good and bad foods for your teeth and we read a number of books including Alan’s Big Scary Teeth which was a hit with the children😁🪥🦷

Our story of the week was The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the children have been looking at the life cycle of a butterfly. Our own caterpillars are now in their cocoons and the children are waiting patiently for them to emerge. We will keep you posted.

What zoo set-up would be complete without a helicopter 😀?
We love to spark our children's imagination and give them sensory learning experiences to go with our 'book of the week'. Dear Zoo is a great one for teaching them all about different animal characteristics, what you might find in a zoo and also more appropriate choices for pets! 🐶

💡When you've formed your team of up to six brainiacs, email us at [email protected] and come along on 8th June at 7.30pm.
🌟You can bring drinks and food.
🌟All proceeds will go towards the pre-school fundraising.

WORD OF THE WEEK: CHOREOGRAPHY 💃🏻🦒
Last week we focused our learning on the classic children's book 'Giraffes Can't Dance'. It's a brilliant book to introduce the children to lots of themes:
- Jungle Animals
- Confidence
- Different kinds of dances, movement and styles of music.
We were feeling ambitious so our word of the week was 'choreography'. We love this book as it's a great way to get the children trying out their movement and dance skills too!
For more info about our pre-school or to arrange a look around, email the team at [email protected] or give us a call on 0208 8597718.
