Year 3 stepped into a world of discovery during their visit to the Science Museum.

Throughout the day, pupils explored space, developed their understanding of planets and reflected on how scientific knowledge has evolved over time - particularly through the lens of historical medical practices. The experience sparked thoughtful questions, encouraged curiosity and helped pupils connect classroom learning to real-world innovation.

Interactive exhibits gave pupils the opportunity to think like scientists - observing, questioning and drawing conclusions, while building confidence in their ideas and discussions.

There was also plenty of creativity on display, with some pupils capturing the day through photography, highlighting the many talents within the class. ⚛️🔭

What happens when our pupils are challenged to redesign the city around them?

As part of our collaboration with this May - one of London’s most influential celebrations of design - our Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils are stepping into the role of architects. This is more than a project; it’s an opportunity to explore how design shapes the world around us and to bring their ideas into a real London design conversation.

At Charterhouse Square School, London is part of the classroom, and with the Barbican Centre right on our doorstep, inspiration is everywhere. Over two days, pupils designer digitally, sketching their concepts, and building sculptural models, each idea driven by creativity, curiosity, and a focus on the future.

This project reflects exactly what learning at CHSS is about, giving pupils the tools and freedom to think differently, experiment, and engage with the city around them in meaningful ways. And this is only the beginning.

How do our youngest pupils begin building independence? One small step (and one jam sandwich) at a time.

In Nursery, pupils have been developing their independence through hands-on learning. From carefully spreading jam to make their very own sandwiches, to exploring different vegetables they would love to grow in the garden, every activity encouraged decision-making, confidence and curiosity.

These experiences also linked to our focus text, Jasper’s Beanstalk, inspiring pupils to think about how plants grow and the vegetables we can nurture ourselves.

 Activities like these play an important role in helping our youngest learners build practical skills, explore the world around them and grow in confidence each day. 🌱
