Critical Dialogues Issue 10 07/12/2018

My contribution to Critical Dialogues issue 10 is out... https://issuu.com/criticalpath2/docs/criticaldialogues_10_draft53

Critical Dialogues ‘No Body’ is guest-edited by CP’s Associate Artist Adelina Larsson with pieces by Nadja Hjorton, Lz Dunn, Sarah Hoboult, Geumhyung Jeong and Vânia Gala. The featured topic places the absent body in relief against the non-sighted body and the aliveness of objects, culminating in a meditation on what absence might mean in today’s post-fordist era. The issue incorporates practitioner reflections, academic excerpts and a playful interview to present a rich collective montage of writing that delves deep into the interplay between liveness and death, drawing parallels between timely feminist, q***r, disability and artistic concerns.

"1001 Things Study 2" investigates the role of the non-human as a form of advancing new presence(s) on stage and its relevance in the present time. We have come to think of choreography as the art of the human, where the human is the performer. But what if we open the invitation for things to perform?
Consisting of four scores this performance with the duration of 30 minutes.

1001 Things by Vania Gala
with Amy Ollett, Teresa Feio, Rochelle Taylor, Alice Labant and Richard Thomas
Thank you to: Prof. John Mullarkey, Dr. Joanna Hall and Jason Piper

Dear colleagues from Forum for artistic Practice,

I would like to invite you for "1001 Things" next Wednesday at 18:30 at Laban Studio Theatre at the Forum for artistic Practice.
On this first sharing of the research "How to Disappear: Expanding the possibilities of choreography in a post-Fordist era" several scores for things and humans will be shown. Relying on Heidegger's concept "ready-at-hand" and on the potential of absence and disappearance in choreography several scores will be proposed in duo and solo form.
Most of the research is being developed between 0:00- 7:00 am (under a time when humans withdraw into sleep) in the silent student area of Kingston Library. Looking forward to see you and to get your feed-back and impressions.

Looking forward to be seeing you.

All the Best,

Vania Gala
