Not for the faint-hearted! 🫀

In Biology last week, Year 6 had the messy task of dissecting a heart. As part of their topic on animals, students had been getting to grips with the circulatory system and they got to the heart of the matter by dissecting a lamb’s heart. They carefully explored every ventricle, valve and artery, sticking wooden markers down to map out and label the heart 🚩

Year 6 had a lot of fun exploring the heart and it was really useful for them to visually see its structure to increase their understanding.

It's at RGS and we were absolutely delighted to welcome author Lucy Noguera to the school today to speak to students about her latest book, 'Swop the Satsuma-Sized Secret' 🍊

Lucy spoke about her inspiration for the book coming from her own dog (also called Swop) and led a fun and interactive session using props lifted straight from the pages of the book. As a former primary school teacher and teacher of the deaf, there was also time for students to learn some British Sign Language, just like how Ernie (the story's protagonist) and his deaf sister communicate throughout the story 🐶

Thank you for coming in, Lucy!

Inspired by the recent Six Nations coverage, students in Year 3 and 4 had a tense battle of touch rugby against Parsons Green Prep on Monday afternoon at the Hurlingham Playing Fields.

Team A, made up of Year 4 students, won both of their matches – winning the first game 7-4 and the second game 9-6. Team B’s two matches were closer contests, with our mixed team of Year 3 and 4 students winning their first game 6-5 and drawing their second game 4-4.

Well done, Redcliffe! 🏉

With the weather on our side for , there were plenty of opportunities for students to embrace the great outdoors – a key ingredient in maintaining a sense of positive mental wellbeing.

On Monday, Upper and Lower School students took part in ‘PE with Mr G’ aerobics sessions outside to set them up for the week. Upper School students breathed in the crisp air that Thursday brought and marvelled at the snowdrops in bloom on their wellbeing walk through Brompton Cemetery.

And our green-fingered Year 4 students prepared the school for spring by planting bulbs in the playground’s planter 🌱

There was an excitable and creative buzz around school last week as Redcliffe students took part in a number of activities and workshops to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for Wellbeing Week.

On Tuesday, students took part in a special circus workshop. After an impressive demonstration, every year group had a chance to learn a variety of skills – from tight rope walking to juggling, stilt walking to spinning plates – even the teachers had a go! 🤡🎪

Paws-itive feedback! 🐾

Last week we received a letter of thanks from last year’s chosen charity, Battersea Cats and Dogs Home, for our donation of £421.00 to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs and cats.

We were all so pleased to know that the our donation will be used to make a real difference to the lives of the dogs and cats that are most in need of Battersea's love and care 🐶🐱

The Redcliffe community got into the Christmas spirit with a wonderful Carol Service at St Luke’s Church last week 🎄

There was a real festive atmosphere and every student sang and read beautifully. With thanks to Ms Parker-Wood who organised a delightful service and Mrs Gouldstone who had thoroughly rehearsed the children’s carol singing. It really was lovely to see so many parents, siblings and grandparents attending and we feel incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful community at Redcliffe Gardens School ❤️

After weeks of rehearsals, the Lower School were very excited to present their nativity play, ‘The Story of Christmas’, for parents last week.

Colourful costumes, beautiful speaking and enthusiastic singing brought the tale to life, and there were plenty of humorous moments that resonated with the audience – from the shepherd who refused to go to bed, to the donkey who wouldn’t go to Bethlehem until he was given a carrot 🥕

Everyone was very proud of the confidence the children displayed in their wonderful performance 💫
