Normanby College was named after the IVth Marquess of Normanby (Oswald Constantine John Phipps, KG CBE) who was a peer and a philanthropist for the blind.
Lord Normanby was Chairman of King's College Hospital from 1948 until his death in 1994.
As well as being a member of St Dunstan's council, he was also Chairman of the National Library for the Blind from 1946 until his death and its President from 1977 to 1988.
Enjoyed many periods of study at Normanby College between 1989 and 1993.
