The Actors’ Guild of Great Britain is a not-for-profit organisation – a company of professional actors from across the United Kingdom. We are not a union, although we do utilise the voice we have as a collective, and through our unique setup swing the pendulum of power firmly back to the actor. The antithesis to the increasing number of companies who appear to take advantage of our community, The Actors’ Guild provides a haven, a support network and opportunities to nurture the talent within our membership. Our programme of ethically run workshops is dictated purely by feedback and suggestions from our membership. These provide the opportunity to meet and work with leading practitioners – casting directors, directors, producers, agents and other actors – to develop craft, maximise creative development and benefit from the professional networking opportunities that membership brings. Our fully inclusive bursary scheme provides on going practical support to actors throughout the year and has no upper age limit. As well as offering a support network, forum and articles, members also enjoy a large collection of exclusive discounts with leading industry service providers. These include discounts on headshots, voicereels, showreels, theatre tickets, tutors and classes, web design, casting resources, professional publications, photographic repros, books, insurance and accountancy – saving members hundreds of pounds each year. TAG is a ‘members only’ organisation and accepts applications to join from professional actors who pass our strict membership criteria. Membership is free for those professionals wanting to use the forum and apply for the monthly bursary scheme; all our other services require full membership which costs just £20 a year. The Guild was formed as an antidote to the increasing number of enterprises that seem to be taking advantage of actors. Providing a haven, a support network and the opportunity to work with the very people you meet in the audition room. When it comes to the workshops and seminars we produce The Actors’ Guild firmly swings the pendulum of power back to the actor. Our program is dictated by feedback from our membership, we never ask you to book in ‘blocks’ and believe quality does not have to cost the earth. We offer an exclusive range of industry discounts for members; a bursary scheme which pays for all the essentials an actor could need for a year, and a support network that brings this often disparate, nomadic community together.

Join Casting Director Seth Mason for a full-day intensive designed to give actors an in-depth understanding of the casting process while strengthening their audition technique for film and television.

Throughout the day, actors will work on prepared scenes in a professional and supportive environment, receiving individual feedback and direction from Seth. The intensive is designed to help performers make stronger choices, deepen their connection to the text, and develop the confidence to deliver authentic, compelling performances in the audition room.

The workshop will cover:
• Audition technique for screen
• Working on scenes with professional direction
• Making bold, truthful performance choices
• Understanding what casting directors look for
• Responding confidently to adjustments and redirection
• Self-tape best practice and industry expectations
• A Q&A covering casting, careers, and the current industry landscape

This intensive is suitable for actors looking to sharpen their audition skills, gain valuable insight into the casting process, and receive personalised feedback from an experienced casting professional.

Bio:
Seth Mason is an experienced Casting Director working across film, television and theatre. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with leading production companies, directors and performers, casting projects that range from independent productions to major television dramas and feature films.
Most recently, Seth has served as Casting Director on acclaimed projects including Unforgotten, The Split, The Catch, This Time Next Year, The Serial Killer's Wife, Rebel Cheer Squad, and the feature film Embers. He also cast the BAFTA-nominated short Nânt and Her Majesty, both of which were official selections at the London Film Festival.

Alongside his work as a Casting Director, Seth has worked as Casting Associate on an impressive range of productions including Disclaimer, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, The Long Shadow, Sherwood, Starstruck, World on Fire, Silent Witness, The Bubble, Des, and the feature film Crawl.

Heading to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year? Taking part in Camden Fringe? Or simply looking to support shows, meet creatives, and discover what the community is working on?

Join The Actors' Guild for an evening of networking, collaboration and industry connection ahead of festival season.
