Turkish-born Arda Afsar, 19, has praised the teachers and support from City and Islington College ( ) after becoming one of only two students nationally to receive the Peter Roberts Bursary from Collab Group, worth £2,500.

Arda plans to use the bursary funds to buy an iPad, a graphic calculator, and course materials, including textbooks.

He hopes to eventually become an accountant or work in asset management or investment banking after he graduates from university.

He studied a which he passed with a D*D*D.

Maria Guaman: It is never too late to study!

Juggling her studies and her family, Maria said that sometimes she felt she could not continue but she did.

'I am proud of my mom,' said daughter Amy. 'She hasn't had much opportunity to study before. I am proud that she is doing it now.'

Maria graduated with her Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Diploma, earning an Excellence Award for her exceptional efforts.

She visited student services and the library for support and access to resources to assist with her diploma assignments.

Tyler Minter: Practical intensified my learning experience Minter was presented with the 2022 Excellence Award for Railway Engineering.

Tyler has been to other colleges but they did not give him hands-on experience.

He believes that the practical provided during his course at CONEL, spurred him on to achieve his excellent results.
