AI is starting to show up inside the delivery of many service-based businesses.
And that means clients are beginning to ask new questions.
Not just:
“Are you using AI?”
But things like:
How is AI used in the delivery?
What happens to our data?
Which tools are involved?
Where are humans still responsible?
Many companies are already experimenting with AI tools.
But the leadership conversation about how AI should be used, governed, and communicated often hasn’t caught up yet.
When those questions come from clients, it quickly becomes a leadership issue.
I wrote a short reflection about this in our latest Substack article.
You can read it here:
AI, client trust, and service delivery: the next leadership conversation
As AI becomes part of daily work, clients are beginning to ask new questions.

AI conversations often stay strategic.
AI usage quickly becomes operational.
But AI governance?
That part is often undefined.
In many service-based businesses, teams are already experimenting with AI in daily work.
Marketing tests tools.
Operations automates workflows.
Client-facing teams are incorporating AI into how they prepare and deliver their work.
The question leadership hasn’t always clarified is:
Who owns what?
Without clear decision rights, hesitation spreads.
Not because people resist AI but because they don’t want to cross invisible lines.
AI governance isn’t about control.
It’s about clarity.
I unpacked this further in my latest Substack post.
If you’d like the link, let me know.

I’ve started something new on Substack.
It’s a space where I explore "AI, automation, strategy and leadership for service-based businesses in a deeper way."
The latest post is about something many leadership teams are wrestling with right now:
AI capability.
When roles begin to shift, training can’t be left to chance.
Capability is infrastructure. Not an individual initiative.
If you’re on Substack, I'd love to connect there as well.
Comment “Substack”, or send a DM, and I’ll send you the link.

I didn’t expect a NASCAR race to teach me this much about business.
Watching the leader lose on the final lap reminded me that speed isn’t the goal; strategy is.
Growing a service-based business works the same way. It’s not about working harder; it’s about building clarity, systems, and leadership that keep you in the race for the long run.
