Friday 3rd October 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,

This week our focus has been on Pupil Voice. We were delighted to hold the very first meeting of our new Pupil Parliament, with children elected by their classmates to represent them.
At the meeting, the children shared their ideas for our charity of choice this year. There was a resounding response in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital, a cause very close to many of our community’s hearts. The Pupil Parliament will be working alongside Miss Callan to arrange fundraising events, and we will also be supporting Children in Need and Red Nose Day, as chosen by the children.
The children also gave thoughtful feedback on our behaviour policy, highlighting what they feel works well and where we could make small improvements. The voice of every child is so important, and we are really pleased that our new Pupil Parliament has had such a positive start.

Friday 19th September 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week in assemblies, we have been focusing on two important themes: staying safe online and the importance of routines in school. The children have been encouraged to think carefully about how to use technology responsibly and how following routines helps everyone feel settled and ready to learn.

One of my favourite moments this week was seeing the children enjoying themselves at lunchtime with the different play resources. They were ready, respectful and safe, and a wonderful moment of spontaneity followed as they worked together to create their own small world using natural materials—showing creativity, teamwork, and imagination in action.

Looking ahead, next week we are excited to introduce Student Voice to all pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. This will give children the opportunity to share how they are feeling about school, outside of school or at home and let us know if there are any areas where we can make improvements or where they may need any help and support. You can find out more by visiting: https://mea9jd.tsv.app/

Weekly Newsletter - Important Information

Parking on Amersham Road
As a school, we work hard to maintain positive relationships with our local residents. It is really important that, as a community, we respect their properties.
Please ensure that you do not block or park on driveways when dropping off or collecting children. This has been highlighted again by residents this week, and unfortunately, it means we are having to spend time addressing this issue when our focus should be on supporting the children’s learning.

Headlice
We have had an increase in cases of head lice across several year groups. Please be vigilant in checking your children for head lice, and guidance on treatment can be found here. We ask that long hair is tied back for school, to help prevent further cases.

Snacks and Packed Lunches – Nut Free School
All children are provided with a healthy snack at breaktime. Please remember that we are a nut free school. Some children and staff have severe nut allergies, and even trace contact can trigger a life-threatening reaction.

For this reason, no nut products are allowed in lunch boxes or as snacks/treats. Any items containing nuts will be removed, and children will be given an alternative. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe. If you have any questions, please speak to a member of staff.

Friday 12th September 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we were delighted to welcome our new Reception children and their families to Mead! It’s been wonderful to see the children settling in so well, and we look forward to getting to know you all over the coming weeks.

Year 4 had a fantastic first swimming session, and we’re excited for after-school clubs to begin next week. There's lots of fun and learning ahead!

To help children become more independent at drop off and pick up, please avoid looking through classroom windows. If you have a message for staff, speak to someone on the door or gate, or contact your child’s teacher via the year group email or the school office.

Regular attendance is important for children to get the most from their learning. If your child is absent, please let us know by 8:30am each day by calling 01708 343616 (option 1) or emailing [email protected]. If we haven’t heard from you, we will contact you, and a home visit may be carried out if we cannot reach you. Please see the Local Authority Attendance Policy attached for your information.

Thank you for your support in helping all children settle, learn, and thrive!

Our outdoor gym equipment is a fantastic resource for pupils during school hours. For safety reasons, any use of the equipment before or after school is entirely at the parent/guardian’s responsibility.
Please ensure:
Children are supervised by an adult at all times.
Equipment is used safely and appropriately.
Pupils follow the same rules as during school hours: no running, no eating or drinking on equipment, and use one at a time or as designed.

The school cannot accept responsibility for accidents or injuries that occur outside school hours.
