Let yourself get bored! Struggling, getting bored, and hitting walls—both in yoga practice and in life—are not signs of failure but essential stages of growth. These moments of discomfort and stagnation teach patience, humility, and resilience. In the stillness of boredom or the resistance of a plateau, we are invited to look deeper, refine our focus, and reconnect with purpose. Without these challenges, we might never develop the strength or self-awareness required to truly soar. It’s only by grappling with the limits of our body and mind that we come to appreciate the freedom and lightness that follow—the moments when we finally fly feel earned, not given.

Yoga practiced correctly will give you space everywhere, in your body, in your mind and in your breath. Yoga teachers should give students space to feel and space to just be.

My first training we learned a direct dialogue to teach with, some of it sounds pretty silly but its all very present and direct which helps the student strengthen mind body connection and promotes space in their body and a break from the constant mind chatter. Say want you want about the Bikram dialogue but it works.

I much prefer a teacher that instructs presently and gives space. So much better than teachers that describe and fill in the blanks with their own thoughts and mind chatter. Things like ā€˜we’re gonna….’ ā€˜Get those arms up’ ā€˜get that leg straightā€. It’s such a disservice to students when instructions do not promote mind body connection. Whose arm and leg are we talking about? 🤣

I know teachers are human too and we all have off days but please let’s keep instructions present, leave out the faff and just say step YOUR best foot forward. Direct instruction over apologetic faffy rainbows 🌈 shining out of your a**s instructions is what I always endeavour to offer and train teachers to offer too.

Whatever you say though most important thing is you are committed to a practice and you’re coming from a place of compassion otherwise I would go back to practice and connect back to why you started yoga or teaching in the first place.

Leave a comment on what instructions you like or things teachers say that gets your goat, it’s interesting…

Next teacher training enrolment is open for booking

Peace 🩷

My thoughts as I prepare to teach Yoga for Elders course this weekend. This is a quote I heard early in my yoga journey and I embody the essence of it every time I teach ANY BODY. Have witnessed this soooo many times and it’s one of my motivations that keeps me teaching. Thanks everyone that continues to inspire me to share Yoga practice it’s a dream to vibe (and sweat šŸ’¦) with you 🤣🩷

Those of you thinking about starting a yoga practice just stop thinking about it…..I haven’t encountered a body that can’t practice yoga yet…

Trying to blend in 🤣🌳nahhhhh tried that when I was younger didn’t work. Instead thanks to yoga practice, natural medicines šŸ„šŸƒšŸ§˜ā€ā™‚ļøand good friends, I just try and be a perfect version of me ā¤ļøor better yet accept being perfectly imperfect…..Or even better yet just be like a tree 🌳 Root down, Stand tall, weather the storms and grow from sunlight….šŸŒøšŸ’«

Upgrade - thought after 12 years I better rewrite my bio!

Hello my name is Hassan Hassan and I believe strongly in the gifts of yoga, meditation and generally all things movement. I’m first a student of yoga then a teacher and have been fortunate enough to practice and teach all over the world across a broad spectrum of students ranging from teens to our elders in care homes, neuro diverse, severely injured and all shapes in between.

I’ve healed many injuries and mental barriers with yoga and believe in working compassionately with our bodies but also not shying away from challenge or facing all parts of our human experience. I enjoy watching the growth, healing, integration and transformations that occur when yogis step onto the mat.

When not practicing yoga I can be found walking dogs or cuddling on sofa with them resting from a day of movement. Nature and Dogs particularly really inform and validate my yoga practice and teaching as they are amazing mirrors of energy, always present and in the now which is a challenge for humans these days.

When I first started teaching yoga I wanted everyone to feel as good as I did and I still want everyone to be the best they can be but nowadays I’m teaching to keep us human. So expect to be asked to leave your phone, expectations and ego at the door when you come to my class as it’s a human experience we are sharing and I would like you to be present - I’ll do the same except if I’m using music then I’ll take my phone for that purpose.

Hope to see you on the mat!
